So I am where I am now. I drink too much. Over many years I have done this crazy dance of trying to control it. Now that nearly everybody knows, I wonder about the journalling units though. One of the things I have learned on my therapeutic travels is about mindfulness. (From a particularly awesome therapist I am thinking of returning to.) I know how much I drink - ish. Not to the milliliter but enough to know what my problem is. How I *feel* about it is more important to me than the number of units. I am thinking of, in a few weeks, maybe applying a little bit of will power to not drinking so much so that I may enjoy AF days to stimulate the endorphin rush of other activities like exercise and sex. But if I am currently at 1/2 bottle of rum on drinking days, I think I am gonna notice when I am down to not interested in booze. So ... has anyone just skipped the journalling units part? I know I will stick with journalling the craving part since THAT is where the dealio is for me.

Thoughts? Isn't it weird to check all your thoughts to see if they are alcoholically motivated?

Hi CO,

For me I didnt track my drinks nor my cravings. I went off of feel. Because I am/was a binge drinker I mainly went off of a range of beers and wether or not I made an ass out of myself the night before, and how bad if any my hangover was/is.

For the mediteranian or daily drinkers, I would suggest keeping track of such things in a journal, mainly because Im sure down the road there will be an area of frustration, and looking at the chart you have created over time will surely show the occurrence of a downtrend. This ofcourse will be encouragement during discouraging feelings and proof that TSM works when your faith is beginning to fade.

For me, the science made sense and thats all I needed to know. This is all just my opinion ofcourse.

Wishing you the best,

hap

I recommend keeping track. Really, it's a tiny amount of effort and you'll really be able to track and understand your progress.
