Thx Choc Mse -
I am worried about myself...not doing well at all. Just drinking at the same levels I did before anything for the most part: 3/4 of a big bottle of wine most nights. I am really disappointed TSM and BAC did not work...and now I worry about taking Topamax if my hair will start falling out...GAWD - I dunno -

I'm just going to do what I did with BAC - jump in cautiously and see. Being on these websites helps alot, but it scares me...altho I am going to my DR next week for Topa & will not tell about my foray w/ BAC...that will come again later, if needed, when the kinks are worked out w/ that drug, I hope!

I am fine in public...I do my drinking at home in private. And except for a recent drunken episode w/ a few close family members who were mortified...I hide it pretty well. But I hate this addiction, the fact I drink to excess most days of the week.

Please, GOD, there has got to be a medication to help me/you/us out of this!! Must I look forward to white-knuckling it for the rest of my life??!! I am hoping there are a variety of cures for the variety of us who have this problem....

Fingers crossed for the next option for me -

I love you Houtx. I mean that. I love all you TSM,BAC.TOP people. but especially houtx who has been so supportive since i've been here, and not just to me but to everybody here, despite the fact that TSM didn't work for her.

It means a lot to me that you've come back and commented on my thread. I often think TSM won't work for me for many reasons, (like when I drink red wine it just doesn't seem to make a difference 5 months in) hard to imagine anything getting between me and my red wine.

sorry to sidetrack claremont, but houtx means a lot to me. a stranger with 5 letter handle signifying where she's from is all she should mean to me really, but I know her in a way. and hopeefully her path will lead to success, which will lead those of us who don't make it with TSM to success. PEACE.

Im glad you said that Joe12pack, Houtx has shown great support to all of us here and this must have been extremely hard when not seeing results for yourself :x We're right behind you Houtx and wishing you the best! I have heard with the topa that it is only in extreme cases that there is loss of hair but yeah I can understand your caution. xxx

Hi Everyone - no worries Joe - Houtx and all mean a lot to all of us so please feel free to jump in anytime.

Houtx, you are very brave and we are all here to support you in your efforts, as you are to us. I feel the same way you do about the addiciton and drinking every day. It seems that 75 mg does nothing for me either. In fact, I think my drinking has gone back up again since I started it. The first two nights we astonishingly low and then, bam, back to 6 glasses nightly (which is about 3/4 of a big bottle).

Hopefully the hair loss will not affect you. I think I read somewhere that Biotin supplementing helps. BUT, if it works, hair loss would be worth it. There should be lots of info at MWO as that is what RJ took long term.

I do keep thinking, as many have mentioned before, that wine addicition is different. How many of the cured were wine drinkers? I'll have to look that up again.

Saint Vincent - interesting on the coffee drinking. Perhaps I will have to take it up again:-)
