Dear Dr. Eskapa,

Thank you so much for your wonderful, enlightening book! I haven't been using the Sinclair Method for long, but am already noticing a difference in my drinking. I am convinced that this approach will work for me. Thank you so much!

I was just wondering.... Prior to starting the Method, I was walking 5 miles each morning. Can I still do this, or will it impact the effectiveness of the program?

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Thank you again for bringing this wonderful treatment to the attention of people like me!

SIncerely,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I asked the same question recently, and both my doctor and many people on this forum said we should exercise as much as we want to. Some even report that they feel it helps with their TSM progress. So keep up the good work walking, five miles a day is so good for you!

YG

Dear YG,

Thank you so much for your very kind, prompt reply! I really appreciate you getting back to me!

I will keep on walking! I've been missing it since starting the program!

Hope you're making good progress yourself!

Thanks again!

I know that some people have said they dont enjoy some activities as much. I must say nal has never effected me in this way. In fact I think I enjoy things even more because I feel so possitive that this addiction is on the run from my life. If you feel like excercising then do.

Hey Jen, haven't seen updates from you ... how's it going? Are you back exercising? I have been exercising a lot, and I think it does help. Every time I have to get a tough workout in and feel horrible from drinking too much, I feel that much more committed to drinking less ... and TSM seems to be helping me in that goal. Hope you are experiencing the same!

Hi YG,

Thanks so much for your post! It looks as if you're making GREAT progress!

I am exercising (thanks so much for the advice!) and am finding that my cravings are starting to lessen... although I still have my moments! I am looking forward to a day when I have NO desire to have a glass (or more) of wine.

I feel so great when I have a day where I can get by with just one drink... but then the next day I'll find myself having a few. Did you find the same thing at the start of your treatment? (I'm just a couple of weeks in.)

I hope that you're doing really well and truly appreciate your concern for and interest in me!

Warmest wishes,

Jen

Dear Mr. Eskapa.. This is a question for you, but I don't mind if people who have experience give me advice as well.
(And Thank you for your book.. I enjoyed reading it.. I like the whole "re-set" possibility)

Hi all! So glad to have found this thread!!

I haven't started Nal yet, I'm ordering it on Monday. I started running looking for a healthier way to de-stress and to take my mind off drinking. I'm starting to see a big improvement and have a 10k comming up. I imagined I was going to have to schedule my activities very carefully for fear that I would also block the endophins from running.

I didn't see how I could exercise 5 days a week.. and still have Nal-drinking days.

So you all have had a good experience mixing the two? Any suggestions... maybe I should try and be Nal free for the really long runs or race days?

Thanks!!
BoniR

I already replied to boni on another thread but here's my two cents:
If I exercise before taking the nal, I've noticed no difference (even if I took another nal the night before). Although 24 hours is how long it takes for the drug to be out of your system, medically, in terms of exercise I've found that 12 hours is sufficient. Before a heavy exercise day I might have an AF night anyways, and thus not take the nal. But otherwise, I'd say resume as normal!
