Just the Monday morning numbers to list. Things are mostly the same. The clarity late in the evening, after many beers, seems to be wearing off. 7 weeks of Nal under his belt.

Numbers up. Bahaviour sucks.

I am his ride everywhere except to work. That means I'm the one taking him to the beer store every other day. A pissed off part of me wants to say no more, screw it, find another mule. Another part says just let it happen, see where he is in 6 months or so.

Still hanging in there. Things seem the same. Just finished week 9.

We talked last night a lot about the habit of throwing away a beer can and immediately opening the fridge for the next; maybe purposely leaving the kitchen before opening the fridge, even if just for a few minutes, to try and break that particular chain.

He says there are times when he does feel full or drunk after just a few but he thinks 'Only four beers?' and keeps going because it just doesn't seem like enough.

It's hard not to over-analyze. I'm trying to remember (was it MinneapolisNick?) who just drank with no restrictions until week 21 and the switch got flipped. But sometimes I think, Good grief try to exert a little self control. It seems like the blind leading the blind at our house.

I know what you mean. last night I was at a friend's in the afternoon and had 2.5 beers. decided I didn't want any more and went home. later as I cooked dinner I had 5 more. it's a big habit for me to drink and grill. I'm gonna just do as I please for a while like it says in the book. the craving IS going down, so as it continues to go down, I think I will feel less co mpelled to act on these impulses. like at the friend's house. I would've never stopped drinking before TSM. I would've pressed on through and been lit by the time I ate dinner.

hope we both can get to an place where it's easy to break the habits

I know what you mean, for sure. I found that you can only plant the seed, then let it go. At some point in the process, he will probably decide to change things up a bit.

A glimmer of hope! Monday night we were looking at my son's vacation pictures, listening to the stories and having a really good time of it. I leaned over and said carefully to hubs "You might not realize it but your speech is starting to slur a lot." He said "OK, I'll stop," and he did for the night!

We still looked at pictures (all fed from the camera through the xbox to the TV, it was cool) and snacked. Still had showers and getting ready for bed to do. Drinking would normally last right up to carrying a beer to the bedside table but not that night!

Pretty much the same thing happened last night only without me saying anything he goes "Go ahead and say it, it's time for me to stop." And he did.

I know we've still got a humongous roller coaster ahead but I'll take what I can get. Smiles and peace today.

Thank you Joe and BobandCarol, I come here for feedback. It may not ever be read by my husband but it's helping me and that helps him.

Weekly check-in time. Week 10 just finished. It seems like his nightly numbers haven't gotten too out of hand (for him) the last two weeks. But there aren't any reall low number nights either so at the end of the week, the total is about the same.

This weekend was high school reunion time. We had a small group and party atmosphere at our house. But his numbers stayed about the same as the week-day numbers.

When we talk he seems to have a real desire for this to work. He's beyond tired of what the alcohol does to him.

This is exactly how I feel emotionally TBloom.

I think even though we still drink, this may be the glimmers that people speak of.

I'm keeping our fingers crossed for all of us (I'm in month 9-10). I think it will work for me for exactly the reason your husband stated. I'm beyond tired of alcohol. It bored me so.

Unlike some folk though, I still buy booze but now the 1.75 liter bottles are piling up as the old me needs to make sure I have it and the new me is staring at it going wow thats a lot of booze. A 1.75 of Rum and 1.75 Jim Beam and wine (I think the wine may go bad, I can only get to 2 cups before it turns me off) a couple brews all sitting around the house. We'll se what I do tonight.

Oddly the mrs. has been out of town and there was only one heavy night.

My best to you Tbloom, hang in there, please support him and be prepared for some rocky days ahead possibly...my best, jim

Looks good to me. You are only in week 6 of actually taking 50mg, so I'd say you're coming along nicely. it's the little differences
