Hi Nick,
Thanks for the response. I have definitely noticed a difference in the way I feel when I drink. I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling anymore but I still get a buzz. The hangovers are just as bad , if not worse.

Pete

Sit tight Pete, it's still early and I know it's frustrating. But it does work for the vast majority who try it. It doesn't sound like you are in the 20%. Personally, and this is just my opinion, I wouldn't introduce Baclofen into the mix unless I was way out of control with my drinking. Give TSM some time to work and then try Bac if you are in the 20%. Just my two cents.

I wish you the best. Read my progress report for a little encouragement.

Nick

Thanks Nick,
I appreciate the encouragement. Patience is not one of my strong points. I'll carry on and let you know what happens.

Cheers...Pete

Hi Guys,
I haven't posted for a while. I have just been drinking as normal and taking the pill every day. I am starting week 19 and for the last few days I have noticed a change, I don't know if it is anything but like I said I will keep you informed of my progress. I am very strict about not drinking before five. This usually meant I would be watching the clock and counting down the minutes until the "cocktail Hour". For the last few days I haven't felt the urgency to drink at five. I started today at six thirty only because I didn't notice the deadline had passed. I still pounded down seven beers but it is the first time in a long time that I haven't felt that burning need to start drinking. I hope this is a result of the Nal and maybe I can start to cut down. I will let you know how it turns out.
Cheers...Pete

Hi Ghinton,
Welcome to the forum. Your post should probably be in the introduction section so I will repost my last entry to keep the thread going. Good luck to you.

This is Spitfire's wife here. Spitfire is in bed, because he's had several beers and isn't having any more and has to get up for work in the morning.

Bubbles, my husband only started the TSM under a Dr.'s care about 5 weeks ago. He's been a LONG time drinker, everyday drinker. He's been really good since he's started, he has cut down significantly the amount, and also the type of booze (he used to love rum, now he's not into it so much, mostly beer).

This process takes a long time. But there are little significant successes along the way, and maybe if you don't have someone living with you who notices it, you may not know you are making progress.

I don't expect Mr. Spitfire to have any AF days anytime soon. But he has said he feels different drinking, feels clearer, and doesn't drink as much.

That is a huge progress for him and I'm excited to see what's still in store. Take care.

Spitfire is lucky to have someone like you who supports him. My wife ran off with my sons baseball coach last year and left me to take care of our four children. This has been a blessing in a way because it forced me to make a lot of changes, including TSM. After reading your post I realized that I am drinking less than I used to and I have decided to start keeping a drinking log. I am actually getting excited because I am noticing some progress. I will cross my fingers and hope it continues. I will report my progress again soon.

Cheers Pete

I am in the same boat you are right now. I am about 7 weeks in. Still drink like a fish, but maybe a slightly drier one. I am keeping a chart and the trend line on it is definitely pointing down. I have had about 9 af days, most of them without even choosing to do so, it just did not appeal to me on those days, and that has not happened in many years. So keep it up. It seems to have changed my attitude toward drinking. It just does not have the allure it used to-beer is beginning to taste sort of nasty(has not stopped me yet though ;) ) I am hoping I will see more significant change around the 12-14 week mark, since I did have the initial honeymoon period and everyone says that is a good indicator of success.

Glad to hear you are doing well Cguest. I am starting my 23rd week without much success. There seems to be some differing opinions as to when to accept that TSM is not working. I have another three months on my prescription so I will keep going till then. At that point it will be nine months and if I see no improvement by then I will call it a day. I am a little less hopeful but still crossing my fingers. Let me know how it goes for you, I hope it works out.

Pete
