Since I began naltrexone, about a week ago, each time I drink I seem to get really stupid. I always did stupid stuff when drinking, but now it seems like it takes less alcohol to make me that way. :o Did this happen to you too?

This is unusual but naltrexone does impact people differently. It could be that your tolerance level has dropped and thus the stupidity factor has increased. But most people report more clarity and control when drinking on naltrexone and less stupid behavior. Side effects on naltrexone in general are usually fleeting so this too may very well pass.

Yeah, I don't think I've had any blackouts since I started the nal. I always had them before. So I guess I am getting less drunk. I'm thinking maybe I'm getting stupid while on nal because I'm irritated that I can't get drunk as usual.

I had a period of irritation early on in the treatment. It didn't translate into doing stupid things while drunk, but it did make me a lot less patient with people when I was on naltrexone. This lessened over time, and I also eventually decreased my dosage (after cured). It was a small price to pay for the incredible benefits of TSM.

Drinking on naltrexone is different for a lot of folks and can take some getting used to. My guess is the "stupid factor" will not be an issue for long.

Scott, my boyfriend reports that he feels the naltrexone makes him feel stupid. To me it doesn't seem any different than the dumb stuff he does/says when he's tied one on. Maybe it's just an increased awareness of how dopey and buzzed you are getting? LOL

Are you taking anything else? I took a Welburtin, a Naltrexone, and had four glasses of wine - made me totally nuts and very aggressive. But when I take naltrexone by itself I'm totally sober even though my body does feel the effects of alcohol - so not much more stupid than ususl (ha ha)

No... nothing else. It happened over the first couple of weekends, when I tried to binge as usual; however, maybe this problem is going away. I started drinking at noon yeserday, and only drank 6!!!! and I drank them slowly. Didn't do anything stupid. Just went to bed! Looks like it might be working for me. I'm down to 20-30 per week. Before I started I was at 45-65.

I have been working with the sinclair method for about 18 days now. I do notice that I don't feel as intoxicated with the same amount of alcohol as before. But I feel I am noticibly more drunk in behavior than I was before starting the nal. I would advise caution, because you don't feel so drunk, but your behavior still is. I.e. I am staggering drunk, but since I am not feeling all the fun stuff, I don't feel as if I am really intoxicated.

You have reminded me that I was a acting like a tit when I first started it too  . It went away after a few weeks though. i remember having the silliest web conversations on facebook etc and made a prat out of myself lol. I was even making even less sense than when normally was wasted. Don't really care now though as on the road to control so well worth it!

Nope, my stupidity level remains right up there where it always was.
