I seem to get extremely depressed. My old friend the buzz is no longer there :( Some people told me that they did in the beginning, but that it wore off after a while last time I asked about it. I'm over a month in now, and it's still really strong.

I guess everyone is a little different, or maybe my idea of a buzz wasn't your idea of a buzz. I'm pretty content with drinking about 5 16 oz beers now. If I drink more than that, I start feeling sick. It's still a quite a bit, but a far cry from 12 to 18 a night. I've been on it for about 9 weeks now, and I've just taken another drop in units the past week.

How much were you normally accustomed to drinking?

I used to drink 45-75 per week. That included days with 15+ drinks. Now, I can never seem to go past about 8-9 in one sitting.

Scott

I never noticed getting depressed from Naltrexone but I sure did notice getting depressed from just alcohol. I know alcohol is a depressant to begin with. The buzz on Nal was like a really clear buzz..nothing like the old buzz I got off burbon and blends. I welcomed that clear buzz with open arms though because all the crazy behaviour stopped from the first time I took Nal. Once booze was practically eliminated in my life so was the depression. The only side effects i experienced were feeling like a zombie for like the first week or 10 days and crazy crazy insomnia. I think it was AJ that pointed out maybe the insomnia is caused by the lck of alcohol...like a detox symptom. Nal obliterated my tolerance from the get go..I had the honemoon that never quit. I went from 20+ drinks to 5-8 overnight...could have been withdrawls..not sure.

Good luck in your fight
