Just thought I'd start tracking my intake on this site. I've been jotting down my drinks in a drinking diary since I started Nal on Friday, March 26th.

Pre-TSM: Between 24 and 32 units per week avg (Drank on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and occasionally one other day of the week)
TSM Weeks: (Drinks are 5 .oz glasses of wine)
1: 22 drinks (Week one had 3 non-Nal sessions on Sunday and Wednesday, and two with Nal on Friday and Saturday)
2: 18 drinks
3: 22 drinks (Drank on a Tuesday, which is rare for me.)
4: 17 drinks
5: 18 drinks
6: 19 drinks

Strange times in Nashville, Tn. Some old friends came in town and I got totally shitfaced with them friday night. I took them to a cool hang and we ate delicious shepherd's pies and saw an amazing rock band play. I love East Nashville now that I am getting out. Before TSM, I was married and never went out, then I was trying to stay sober and full of fear and never went out. I love that TSM allows me to drink still instead of fret and worry.
This town has been flooded for the last 2 days. Worst flood I've seen. The river's higher than it's been in 100 years and cars and houses are floating down highways. Been pretty much at home for 2 days.
My old sponsor called today and told me the valiant tale of how he wanted to drink so badly yesterday but fought it. He was miserable, white knuckling and hating life, but eventually made it through. He's 6 years sober! I wanted to tell him how relieved i am not to have to live in fear like that! God, I'm glad I can use TSM to wean off of alcohol instead of letting the alcohol deprivation effect eat me alive. I can't imagine being 6 years sober and sitting in a room every day talking about being an alcoholic. What a drag! He really IS powerless! Alcohol still owns him but he doesn't even drink.
So I'm sitting out the floods and am staying dry at home, at least as far as water is concerned, and he's fighting life! Ha! I kinda wish I hadn't puked all over my drinking diary friday night but oh well, maybe I'm spiking. i was hungover as hell sat and didn't drink. usually i would've found a way to have a few anyway. I'm staying the course and enjoying life while i do it! Flood ON!!!!

Hi, dmagnum. How's it going now? I notice you drank on a Tuesday which was unusual for you. I found that early into Naltrexone, my drinking habits shattered into shards as well -- not drinking when I would normally drink, drinking when I normally wouldn't, drinking far more than or far less than usual. It was as if habits got scrambled. Kinda interesting, eh?

Keep posting -- I'm really interested in seeing your progress.

Hi Lady,

Hope you're doing well! Last week was pretty good for me. I drank more alcoholic beverages than I would have liked, but I never felt drunk or blacked out. I had no drinks on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

I had a drink with co-workers on Wednesday, Cinco de Mayo, after work. I popped a Nal about an hour before we got to the bar. I had one drink, started a second, but didn't finish it. I took the train home. My husband was in the mood to make turkey meat tacos and drink Coronas. I had some white wine. I noted in my drinking diary that I had five drinks in all, including the 1.5 with co-workers. That is not bad for me. Any night that I drink and manage to get off the couch, go upstairs, brush my teeth, wash my face, change, and climb into bed and REMEMBER is good for me. I have been passing out on the couch for years.

On Thursday, my husband decided he was in the mood to go out to eat. So I had two glasses of wine at the restaurant, 2 full at home, and half a glass that I noted in my drinking diary tasted like "poison".

Friday night, we barbecued. I discovered a low-calorie Cosmo mix called NuniLite. I decided to drink two of those b/c wine didn't appeal to me initially that night. However, I ended up having two glasses of white after that.

Last night, I had 4.5 drinks. I poured half of the last glass of wine down the drain.

I did not feel drunk or black out any night this week. I could be in the honeymoon phase, I really don't know. I hope I continue to get better.

Hope you had a great week. I will check in with your and others on the board.

7: 18.5 drinks (I feel that this is an improvement upon last week, because I had fewer drinks each night. I drank four nights this week, and I drank three nights last week.)

On Sunday night, I had three drinks. My husband was in the mood to drink. I was on the fence. My craving level was at a 5 or a 6 out o 10. I had those three drinks, and wisely had water and went to bed by 10:30 P.M. so that I would not have a miserable work week. (Believe me, I've had many nights where I mixed wine/martinis and watched "Mad Men" and other TV shows, and paid a heavy price the next day.)

I was humming along all this week, working out like a maniac. I ran on Sunday and Tuesday mornings, and worked out with weights and less intensive cardio on Monday and Wednesday. Tonight, my husband and I felt like going out to dinner. I popped my Nal an hour and half before I met up w/him. (I was still on my train, commuting home when we made a plan. He even texted me, "Pop a Nal, kid. I feel like going out!")

I had 1.5 glasses of wine in the restaurant. Couldn't finish the second glass... my husband finished it for me. I nursed another glass and a half for a couple of hours when I got home. It is extremely hot here in Northern NJ (in the 90s), so I filled my glass of wine w/ice. I've barely touched it since I've been home from dinner.

I doubt that I'm cured b/c this is only about my 9th week or so. I'm slightly nervous about next week, too. My husband and I are going on a vacation for the first time in three years. (We bought a houes three years ago. He lost his job. I was the sole breadwinner for about a year and a half. Although I was a problem drinker before that, I really seemed to increase my intake while my husband was out of work.) Anyway, hubby was consulting in the fall and just got offered a full-time gig w/the company. That is why we're taking a little get-away next week. I hope that my drinking cravings and patterns are as manageable as they've been this week. I experienced what might have been an "extinction burst" my 7th(?) week into TSM.

Hope you're all doing well. Sorry if this post is rambling. It's over 90 degress, 10 P.M. at night, and I've had a bit of white wine.

All the best to the rest of you. I will read your posts about your own progress soon.

WOW! I just read this page of your thread and realized I made a post that I intended for my progress thread in yours. the one about the flood and all. I was drunk and had smoked some hash. this was before the flood got serious and I was a bit weird.

I hope you do well on your vacation but don't beat yourself up. TSM prescribes drinking like you normally would but taking NAL beforehand. :ugeek: enjoy your trip. it seems your man is onboard as well so as long as you stay in a good mood he will be understanding I'm sure. ;) Keep us posted, i'm in week 10 so we're right in this together. again, sorry for making a weird personal WTF post in your progress thread

Hi Joe,

Thanks! No worries. I have done crazier things than mistakenly post in someone else's progress thread. I hope you and your home fared well during those bad floods.

Congrats on your progress! It's cool that we've been doing TSM for about the same amount of time. I hope to keep in touch while I'm on vacation. It may be good for me to check in w/the rest of you to keep myself in line. Nal can't do all the work.

Take care, Joe!
