As far as I know, you are the only one of us who has gone to the 4-month mark.

I've read your update posts over at MWO, but I hope you might give us a quick summary of your experience with The Sinclair Method. Maybe something along the lines of this is where I started, this is how I was doing/feeling a month in, 2 months in, etc.

I think this would be really helpful and encouraging to alot of people

Thank you!

Ok. I apologize for not doing it sooner. Bear in mind that I was a 10 times a month binger. My binges last only one night so my experience will be different than for daily drinkers. I will get my thoughts and experiences re the Sinclair method together and post it all as acurately as I can but I am leaving the country in 2 days for a week so may not be able to do so until March. Thanks for the patience. :) . By the way, I have some good things to say.

Hi there! I just got back from a week in Mexico. It was fun. Anyway, getting back to the method, on March 6th I will have practiced the method for 5 months. As a rule, I used to over-indulge 8 to 10 times a month. Since starting, the changes that have occurred were: After 2 months I noticed I would drink less. What used to be a bottle of wine and anything else I could find in the house is now 2 glasses of wine and maybe 2 beers. I also used to fall down and injure myself all the time. I haven't done that since November, 2008. I used to get on the phone and call people drunk and be terrible ashamed and hungover regularly. I haven't done that since November of 2008. I also used to have hangovers that were so devastating that I could not move or get out of bed, except to be sick, all day the next day. Again, this has not occurred since at least November of 2008 except for one night/day that I can recall. All of this has happened without me trying. I just have taken my pill one hour before drinking. In Mexico for the week I took my pill everyday. Sometimes I would just have a couple of drinks and sometimes a few more, but never was I totally loaded and everything was free and inclusive. This would have been unheard of for me in the past. It is a great feeling that I can remember everything from my vacation and have great pictures including going whitewater rafting and mudbaths, etc. My life is better not perfect but substantially better. One thing that has not changed is the amount of days I feel like drinking. Just the amount I drink when I do is reduced and the negative consequences. I would like to see a reduction in the amount of days I feel like drinking. That is the best summary I can give for now. Will keep posting. :) . All the best to others trying this as well.

Hello, I am posting an update. At this point I don't know what to even call myself. I have now been doing the Sinclair method for over 5 months. I haven't had alcohol since Tuesday, March 3rd and I have not craved once. I also have not had a cigarette. I don't really know what is happening here but I feel like a different person. Incredible!

Oh yes, I did not have side effects from Nal except for a short time of Tinnitus that went away by itself. I would feel a little strange after aprox half an hour after taking it but that went away. I have had a very comfortable time of seeing improvements. Any improvements did not start occurring until at least a month to 2 months of doing the method. I did notice that my dreams were very vivid but not nightmares. The reduction of drinking happened quite gradually without effort. The "edge" and desire levels just changed on their own.

Potato,

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. This is exactly what we newbies need to hear. I hope many of us will have threads like this over the next few months.

Yay!

Hi Potato, thanks very much for the update - very inspiring. Were you conciously trying not to smoke or could this be a wonderful and unexpected side-effect of SM? My smoking seems to have gone up a bit which is worrying. Anyone got any red hot tips for quitting the fags?

Thank you Potato, it's great to hear of your progress.

Shasha, I guess if you could wait until you have a drink before you have the first cig, it could extinguish both addictions at once?

POTATOE
You're my hero ! :D
Your name is superb to boot .
You must be over the moon , I'm so glad for you . Really cheers us up or on.

Waiting to Exhale .
that is exactly my case with cigs . i've done a month very recently and so many similar attempts these last years. It's always just the same the drink pulls me back.
I too am hoping to buckle the smoking for ever if the SM works out .
