Welcome back JC. Glad you are hanging in there. You are definitely seeing "glimmers" of hope and of what is to come. The few people having no success with TSM are not reporting a new-found ability to just have four or so. So, I think you will succeed with your ongoing patience.

My best,

Nick

Hang in there JC. We started about the same time on TSM and it sounds like we're doing about the same on it. I'm beginning to think so much of it is habit. Habit I think can be worse than cravings. I'm sticking it out for another 3 months if I can and I say this because I'm having SE of the Nal, go figure I'm probably the only one having any SE after being on Nal for so long but I'm scared to go off of it after all this time.

Hey everybody

I thought I would update as I have been posting just not really talking about me.....

My latest amounts and efforts have proven to DEFINITELY have efficacy with the help of Naltrexone.

My normal amounts pre TSM were 6-10 brews and half pint, pint and 3-4 brews....you get the picture.....now at a hard night its 4-6 brews, and a Martini (2-3 units).

Upon looking at Nicks progress, I realized it took him a minute as well, I'm thinking with my pattern (I never really had a day off), that I am slowly drinking less, hangovers are gone (I've had maybe 3 since starting TSM), no shakies, depression, despair etc. Actuallky as another poster put it, I'm actually able to think about drinking as maybe boring and something I don;t want to do. I know to normal cats that sentence looks stupid,...but I'm sure many of you have thought exactly the opposite pre TSM,..or better as a paradox,...I don't ever wanna quit again,...but damn I can;t how,...ok tonight,...damn how come I'm loaded again....rinse repeat ad infinitum....

So I am posting words of good news and hope to those of you that are just starting and have a ways to go,...When I was sober in AA, the thought of accidentally drinking would send shivers down my spine and in fact, the latest relapse 3.5 years ago was an accident of somebody giving me a drink thjat I thought was club soda Lemon lime...TSM has lifted that fear forever.....

I am going to start copying and pasting what I think will be our book and as it takes shape, I'm sure you guys will want for the best parts of your stories and comments to be included. And yes, this is our book and I am not imposing any AA rules crap. I liken it to a cookbook, we all have recipes and you take what you want. An inspirational text, told by real people living this seemingly impossible cure....again email is

nalsyourpal@gmail.com if you want to send me specific ideas, things of yours or somebody elses that was particularly important to you, chapter ideas (I wrote some under the Nalcoholics anonymous subject so please check there for my ideas).

Best to y'all. I've been reading and enjoying the posts from everybody, thanks for your help, I hope I'm in the fourth quarter and we're up by 10 (not that my Alma mater #1 Kansas could pull it off,..Northern Iowa....sheesh). Jim Clark

Hi Jim just saying hello, too much happening (and emotionally not good!) in my life to elaborate, just wanted to wish you well. I glad you are feeling your creative oats.

Jim,

Thanks for the update about you. This is your thread and it's good to hear that things are still going in the right direction.

I'm glad you mentioned the book! Believe it or not, it fell off my radar for some reason. I wanted to compile my progress thread (which I think is currently the largest one on this website) into one coherent story complete with the ups and downs along with the comments of my on-line friends here. Just composing my own experience is going to be a big undertaking, before proceeding to other chapter contributions. I'm glad you are keeping our focus on it.

Bob

Hi from me too Jim (BGH) glad to hear yu're gettin there. I went back and re-read your first post - your description of that wedding from hell with the rock fan...I had to laugh...you sound so much better these days - still the ole hep cat, but much more hopeful. And I notice your poor wife is still sticking around! Good for you buddy - staying is still better than going - that's YOU.

be good.

Thanks you guys,....

Sometimes when I am in that mid evening debate (my times of drinking are betwixt 9PM-3 AM), to see your words make it a little easier to see the light and say "Hey, how bout joining the happy party..." When I do,...i.e. last night I didn't drink...YEah,...however its not as cool as it seems, I did have a hangover headache,...although not splitting,...enough for me just to feel sick all day...I probably ended up drinking 7-9 drinks the night before,...Well at least I hungover on less...Back in the 1PTSM days, I would drink that and still hang normal...no hangover next day...point again,....I had a moment of clarity that said,...hey you're sick,...watcha movie...(forgetting Sarah Marshall)relax,...I did...by 2.30 AM I was fine....NO CRAVINGS!!!!!!!

I think I'm so much closer,..It's not the Nals fault its the user....I've got a habit that is screwing me up....no longer is it the drug's efficacy, or the addiction.....

Let me try and make it to the next level....2 af days without a hangover and no other reason but to regain quality of my life....

I am going to try and I've been threatening for a month now.....2 AF days,..but it will take effort if not mentally anyways...

OK guys and gals as you know,...I've begun culling my favorite posts,...the book has begun. I want your help...bhere's teh email.

nalsyourpal@gmail.com

I'm looking for chapter topics as well as your favorite posts and why,...I am in no way trying to be the "guy" who writes a book about us but the conduit that is the guy you pour all your change into the machine and out pops a $20 bill....ok? No rules,...this is our cook book. No 12 steps, no put a cork in your mouth, no etc etc etc...however,..and I know this ruffles feathers,..I think this forum is a fellowship of sorts and a book could be a lifeline when we're traveling and you have no access to internet. Do you think Eskapa's book at times falls short? I do...I bless him and Sinclair but we need some supplemental material...

I even think ultimately a workbook would be nice....but thats for another thread,...lets start with a book written by us for us....Much Love Jim Clark

Hey Jim, hard to get AF days can be more of mental thing you know like habit than a physical craving. Nowhere does TSM say that you need to do AF days before the cure can happen, so if it seems impossible for you to do it don't beat yourself up about it. If you want to help your body out why not just try decreasing the amount you consume, any little bit would help. :D

Take care my friend,
corkit
