Hello Guys and Gals,

Just wondering what you all think about having sex on naltrexone. Would this desensitize me to intercourse with my girlfriend. This is something that she has been worrying about. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do a topic titles only keyword search for 'sex'. We've talked about it quite a bit.

Meanwhile, the short answer is "no worries." 8-) But you definitely need to read up.

Naltrexone does not interfere with basic instincts/motives, since they are "hard-coded" into our brains. The Encyclopedia Britannica lists these primary instincts/motives as hunger, thirst, sex, avoidance of pain, and aggression/fear. (I would have included breathing as a primary instinct/motive, but I don't write encyclopedias).

All other motives are considered secondary and are learned behavior which involves our brain's reward system which is affected by Naltrexone.

So fear not. Have something to eat. Drink some water. Have sex. It's not going to change.

Bob

Whew! That has been my second concern in all this (for purely selfish reasons).

Don't forget too that some people have sex only when they are drunk because it lowers the inhibitions....on the other hand alcohol can cause erectile disfunction in gentlemen - all in all you will be ok. Even if you do have a lessening of "thrill" think of all the pleasure that awaits when you have a handle on your drinking - your gal pal may find she's hooked up with a terrific guy to likes to have sex with her sober!!!! ;}

All I know is that since the boy started on nal, we have had weirder and wilder sex than ever before. I don't know what that means, but I'm not complaining. Maybe he's turning into a sex addict instead of an alcohol addict. :lol:
