neural.ned lives in the D.C area too. He asked the same thing. Here's a cut-and paste from my post to him:
Dr. Eskapa gave us a link to a list of doctors who are qualified suboxone -- a drug used to treat opiate addiction. Suboxone has properties similar to naltrexone, so Eskapa thought they might grasp TSM. In any event they are likely addiction specialists with an rx pad at the ready. There's no guarantee but quite a few on this board have had luck finding a doc to prescribe through the link. I notice there are quite a few in the DC area. Here's the DC link:
http://heretohelpprogram.com/treatment/search_bystate.aspx?r=633970767160507500&state=DCMany if not most of us here order our meds online. There has been the occasional suspicion voiced about quality but never one single incident of a specific problem on this board. you can search the board for accounts of experiences. On MyWayOut, many thousands order theirs online without a problem. I believe most here use River Pharmacy (very reliable but pricey) or alldaychemist (also reliable and much cheaper). There can be questionable ones out there so it's important to do your homework if you decide to use the internet option. I've posted a great deal of information about the companies used by these two pharmacies that manufacture naltrexone. I don't have the time to find the links right now, but you should be able to find them through a search of this board.
Whether to order online or use an MD is a decision we all must make for ourselves. Some of us here think it best to avoid the "paper trail", as neural.ned put it. Some here have experienced negative consequences from having mention of treatment for alcohol addiction in our records. Again, it's something each of us must decide for ourselves.
Best of luck, and keep letting us know how you're doing.
