I thought I would mention some herbs as i was reading Happy's recounting of her use of St J's Wort which I think I may try as well that I think are vital for those of us that have abused our bodies for many years.

1. Milk Thistle. This herb is supposedly very good for your liver and has had very good effects for alcoholics, even reversing (don't quote me) some of the effects of cirrhosis in alkies in Europe.

2. Dandelion, Dandelion Root

Oh and I will re-state from some research that I've done....

Free-form amino acid complex plus extra L-cysteine (start with 500 mg work up to 1000 mg daily)

Glutathione (supposedly reduces craving) 3000 mg daily on empty stomach

L-Methionine 1000 mg daily with water or juice. Protects the glutathione

Pantothenic Acid 100 mg 3 X a day (for detox)

Vitamin B Complex plus b12

ANd Vitamin B1` 200 mg 3 X a day....

CAl MAg tabs

Vitamin C with bioflavanoids,,,,

Couple of considerations I read about. I don't do all that but at the very least I think its important to trey and get some B Vitsmind and I would say Milk THistle and some Burdock and Dandelion greens and root (local health food store)....

I don't speak this definitely but to start a conversation that others have used and what you find effective and necessary. I use a multi vitamin, Milk thistle, cal mag, fish oil, and vitamin C....

I might also add Valerian at bedtime for its calming effect but it usually doesn't do much for me...Ok BEst, Jim

I take liquid BComplex and find it excellent. If I go without it for a week or more I get down and fed up. It seems to work better than the capsule form.

Seeing that some folks on here take GABA based prescription medicine I figured I would post this for those that are interested in something a bit less potent.

Picamilon

It is a derivative of GABA and has been around since the early 70's and does not require a prescription. I always took it for mental focus but it does seem to also have a mild calming effect.

I take 150 mg in the morning and 50 mg in the afternoon.
