Thanks Q, yes, it is amazing.

A year ago my girlfriend taped me drunk and incoherent in an effort to show me my problem. I remember waking up with debilitating hangovers, week after week. I remember getting the shakes when I stopped drinking after three days of bingeing and wondering if I might die. It doesn't seem like that was me. It seems like I have woken up from a very bad dream.

i guess since this is one i started i should chime in here...yeah..um, i take 100 of topa 50 morning and 50 nite, and if u have anxiety or anything ontop of drinking, for gals, works GREAT for me with nal, but i cut it to 25 mg, AND i am a wine drinker. also, one has to ease onto topa 25 mg at a time per week, your doc will tell ya, just say you wanna go on it for MIGRAINES and MAKE SURE you take BIOTIN or else YOUR HAIR WILL FALL OUT!!! i was wrong, not 10000 mg day 5000 mg day at a meal 9absorbs better w food0 along with a super B sup. and don't beat urself up if u drink too much sometimes......i think most of us r in the same boat.......i know i am NO LONGER ADDICTED! i just, um, like it...which is much more humbling. it still offers reprieve and escape no longer euphoria and (THANK GOD!) the frantic quest for a drink above all else..that was hell. I am coming out the other side.

I just don't know about the TOPA - heard one too may hair falling out stories & no belief that any amount of vitamens will overide strong chemicals. Glad it's working for you & I am happy in my 8s...altho you can never be too skinny LOLOL

I am a wine drinker, too, and TSM has done a lot for me, but I would not considered myself cured. At all. I still drink about the same amount pre-TSM, I just don't feel like I am. I am ready to consider bac in addition to TSM. The topa thing sounds great except for the hair loss. I lost a lot of hair due to thyroid problems and stress and am just now getting it back. (And I take biotin.) There definitely seems to be some link between wine and success with TSM.

I'm exclusively a wine drinker, and this is my 23rd week on TSM. My extinction curve has followed the classic TSM curve almost exactly until now. I'm aiming for total abstinence, but now that I'm down to a handful of drinks per week my cravings don't seem to want to go any lower. Should I expect my cravings to go to zero? Or, like SpringRider says, should I just jump off the train at this point? Drinking wine on Nal for me has had a few unpleasant side effects; wine tastes lousy, I get drunk on only a couple of drinks, and I risk an intense, migraine-strength headache that comes on in the wee hours after an evening of drinking.

You know, I think I just answered my own question: I am jumping off the train as of today!

Another wine success on TSM. Great news!! Let us know how it goes. And, let us know when you're ready for the Cured list.

So far I haven't managed to remain totally abstinent. I'm still drinking one or two nights per week, although I stop at a maximum of five drinks. It seems that I've changed from a daily drinker to a "mini-binge" drinker. I have to admit that I haven't put a whole lot of effort into resisting my cravings thus far. But this week I am going to attempt a full AF week, so we'll see how it goes. I'm not pronouncing myself "cured" yet; however, I will say that my consumption is down to a level at which I'm no longer ruining my health. I probably won't claim to be cured until I can say with some confidence that I can be AF whenever, and for as long as I wish. Am I being unrealisitic?

You are being very realistic. Sinclair followed subjects from a study for three years and found that progress continues for that long. Glad to hear you are doing well.
