So I've been on nal for almost 10 months now and while it has definitely been beneficial in many ways (especially regarding behavior while drinking), I am still at my pre-TSM drinking levels. My dr. suggested the injectable nal and I wonder if anyone has info on that. She added baclofen to my regime and I'm hoping the combination will help me moderate or stop. I wish TSM had worked as well for me as it has for so many on this board :(

Are you taking nal one hour before you drink or taking it once a day?

Hoping4Better,

If you are dilligent at taking nal one hour before drinking, then the injectible (Vivitrol) will not help. This is more for folks who are court-orded to take nal. The disadvantage of Vivitro is that you can't discontinue it when you finally acheive AF days.

I saw your post on MWO regarding baclofen + TSM. I hope you will post here as well - we are interested.

There is a big disadvantage to injectable NAl and it is this:

NAL has negative side effects, and taking the pill form allows you to only take NAL when you plan to drink. In other words, using the injectable form may give you negative side effects even on AF days.

That said, if the pill form has failed you, the injectable form may be worth a try.
