Roxy you are a lucky lady in many ways not least in having the hubby that you do. Great to hear of AF days and diminished cravings. Im new to this road and looking forward to the destination if not the up and downs of the journey.

Not much new to report. 3 AF days, birthday/vacation weekend went very well, drinks expectedly higher. Cravings are very low, day time drinking is a non-issue. Hoping to see units per session come down more.

Spouse here. Week 19 was down from birthday week. 3 AF days. Plugging along. From my perspective, things are pretty good, but I have had a few "losses of patience" along the way. Alcohol is still a VERY sensitive topic and can lead to arguments and AL sessions (fewer and farther between). I know I am supposed to keep my mouth shut and let it happen, but Jeezus, sometimes I just lose my mind trying to understand the thought processes. Rant over now.

Week 20 - So, a pretty good week here (4 AF). Alcohol is not the main topic around the house anymore, which is just fine with everybody. Steady as she goes.

Husband posting: First week after cure declared. Cravings are very low, AF days were 4. The miracle continues.

Do not be surprised if there are still a few benders lurking out there after a few remaining triggers pop up their ugly heads. But they will be few and far between. Congratulations. :D

Definitely aware of that situation. We have been very reluctant to even consider the word "cure" since beginning this journey, but it seems to fit best at this point. That's not to say mrs. has attained perfection; she certainly has not. However, for the first time in 8 years, she is content to enjoy an evening without booze, get the kids to bed, have some husband time, and read a book before bed. This is without therapy, meetings, or any other ancillary treatment. Drinking too much on the occasions she does drink is sometimes an issue just as it is with "normal" drinkers. She hopes that will improve too. Thank you for the heads-up though; hopefully the benders will be few and far between.

You are welcome. She and I and dozens of others here are proof positive that the specious claim that "an underlying spiritual issue" must be addressed in order to treat alcoholism is total nonsense. Her recovery (and ours) also completely refutes the notion that therapy is a required element to recovering from alcoholism. In other words, everything we've ever been told about recovering from our addiction is a complete pile of crap.

Congratulations again. You are a great spouse.
