I have learned so much from reading everyones' posts. Thank you all for the vast information. I discovered this site from MWO. I took the information to my wonderful doctor who, after reading this site, willingly prescribed my medication. She had been unaware of the Sinclair Method so we will learn together.

I just started the program yesterday. I took the .25 mg of nal and was surprised how "loaded" I became while drinking. Aside from that, no side effects.

I drink around 8 2oz. drinks of 80 proof liquor a night - everynight. I don't drink during the day at all. Does anyone know how many units this is? I am unsure as to how to convert this from the tables provided.

If you're drinking 2 oz of 80proof liquor daily, the formula to compute your consumption in US units is:

Ounces * Alcohol by Volume (ABV) * 1.66 = Drink Units (US)

If you look at your liquor bottle, you'll see that 80 proof booze is 40%ABV, so your 2oz drink counts as 1.33 units, computed as follows:

2 X .40 * 1.66 = 1.33

I use this simple equation (oz * ABV% * 1.66) on an Excel spreadsheet to track my daily consumption (I'm a bit of a perfectionist).
