Welcome!
I posted this link "http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/ccalcoh3.htm" to worldwide unit calculations previously, but I figured I'd put it here too so you don't have to go searching through the board.
If you're drinking 2 oz of 80proof liquor daily, the formula to compute your consumption in US units is:
Ounces * Alcohol by Volume (ABV) * 1.66 = Drink Units (US)
If you look at your liquor bottle, you'll see that 80 proof booze is 40%ABV, so your 2oz drink counts as 1.33 units, computed as follows:
2 X .40 * 1.66 = 1.33
I use this simple equation (oz * ABV% * 1.66) on an Excel spreadsheet to track my daily consumption (I'm a bit of a perfectionist).
