8-) Houtx I am with you, I stopped taking the Nal after one year and I do take 20 mgs of bac daily as it has helped me sleep all of this last year. I try to up the bac but I find it really does make me slow.
I really want to share this experience with you so please pm me or stay in touch maybe we can start our own thread: Two bottlers a day, one year later, nal no go, bac is on......or something like that.
Hopefully we can still participate on this site. I think it is helpful although this site was created for TSM (the sinclair method)
So my dear, and you too LoOp......let's get there.
I want to know exactly what you are going to do to titrate up houtx, please report.
I shall try to do the same. We are very similar in many aspects so this will be a good experiment

I've absorbed Dr. Ameisen's book, read everything I can get my hands on...gotten thru many posts at MWO and will go there again after this. I am excited to try it and yet nervous as well if I start w/o my DR's approval & Rx. He was good about being behind TSM and I am his only patient on it as well as a high dose (100mgs) of NAL...I think he would probably prescribe BAC, but I am not sure I want to be on the radar screen about my drug use anymore.

A doctor, my pros and cons: pros: Understands baclofen withdrawal and is a constant, reliable source. Objective opinion from another person. Cons: May place an arbitrary limit on your dose. Although objective, their opinion is likely to be uneducated and inexperienced.

I have done some serious calculations about how to titrate up...worried about the somnolence bigtime...yet seems to be the biggest side effect & all others are rare. But your testimonials and others on MWO and in the book make me think alot of the warnings are just that. I am excited to try it and worried at the same time. Much more so than last year when I started TSM. I have since stopped taking NAL in the last week as I hit my anniversary and didn't see the point. Am hoping my liver function will improve, night and day sweats will decrease (or is this menopause??!! I DUNNO - hate it!! BLAH!!) as will those stupid, nagging, horrid dreams!!

Why stop the nal? Liver issues? Your call.

Anyway, LoOP, I am going to be asking you questions b/c I am still questioning everything about taking BAC. Some have said somnolence is a problem, which I worry about as I simply can't be bothered with that; others have said if you stay active then it acts exactly opposite and you are super-focused. I hope so, b/c I need that...I have a very physically/mentally demanding job and need to remain up on my feet, verbally quick, and aw dat...just can't be nodding off & that is the one thing I worry about...plus, on a different level, I work out often and want to maintain muscle strength, endurance, breath control, etc...

Everyone seems to respond differently. While I was acclimating to a higher dose, I was somnolent and not too verbally quick. Once I stabilized I was fine. Still can get somnolent if I sit around and watch TV or something. But I've also been on a carb-timing diet, running a consistent calorie deficit and burning fat like a freight train on fire this whole time. So what's to blame? I can't be sure. If this happens, and I get my butt up, I feel like I've got all the energy in the world.

You know my experience with baclofen and exercise. I share this experience with some rats too. Did you read that study I found? The effect is VERY real and VERY noticeable. It delays time to exhaustion. The cardiovascular kind. I notice it when doing cardio or when doing heavy resistance exercises like squats or deads where the limiting factor is my cardiovascular capacity (endurance) not muscle fatigue. It doesn't directly affect my strength though. My bench doesn't improve for instance, because the limiting factor in that exercise is my muscle strength, not endurance.
