It's been a month since I posted on my progress or rather status. Until my driver's license problem is solved, I will not be making any comments or posting any graphs. The only statement I will make is that I am completely sober and that TSM cured me in mid-summer 2009.

For those that do not know what has happened, I'll elaborate somewhat. First of all, I have no DUI stops, arrests, or convictions. In fact, I have no arrest record at all over my entire lifetime. My problem drinking was in the evening and at home alone. Somehow, the State got information that I may be a danger on the road due to "drug/alcohol" addiction and that I may have my driving "privilege" revoked. My psychiatrist has filled out their official generic form and it has been sent in. At the time of this post, I am awaiting the State's Medical Review Panel's decision.

Bob

Reading this and your other thread about your situation must be so F-ING frustrating on your on end. I am pissed off for you. I also never had a DWI or arrest or any infraction with the law and man if I got that letter and had to go through the hoops you do I would fumming. I got my pills online and I am glad I did. I just recommended TSM to a very good friend struggling right now and STRESSED to him DO NOT GO TO AN MD for the perscription and gave him the link to your thread. I hate to tell people not to go to an MD for medication but what is happening to you for going the MD is just plain WRONG.

Thanks crown for the empathy. It's nice to know others understand.

I'm not sure if it's the doctor or the insurance database or the pharmacy or if someone just reported me to the State. Florida and Missouri have similar laws where anyone can turn anyone else in for mental evaluation or report a perceived danger to the public, including driving. I have no idea how the State got wind of it. I'm fairly much convinced it wasn't my psychiatrist, since he filled out the form with the kindest of words and he didn't have anything to gain from it, unless of course he has to code his case load in a State database. But think of this, if it's the pharmacy, then you have to get it online and from out of the country and I'm sure some do-gooder lawmaker will plug that hole at some time in the future.

Bob,

I cannot tell you how shocked and concerned I am to hear about this. I ran across a journal article the other day which concluded that over 14% of adults in the US are alcoholics. Of those several million individuals, a few hundred are here, or on similar sites to pro-actively seek a cure. If some state agency in Florida or any other state has decided to monitor naltrexone use to persecute folks who are seeking a cure for the disease of alcoholism, then then the people involed with these agencies should lose their jobs. If this happens to me I will definitely talk to a lawyer to see if there is a basis for litigation, perhaps starting with the ACLU.

Of all people to end up in such a mess -- you are an absolute saint. You consistently post encouragement to those just starting, even though you were cured long ago. You deserve a medal rather than discrimination. Hang in there my friend.

Best,
-wort

Wort, those comments were so nice! You really know how to make someone feel better. :D :D :D

I'm sure all this will work out eventually.

I agree Wort, Bob is a saint and doesn't deserve this crap. I'm just waiting for the shoe to drop on me now, somehow.

Not that this is news...the use of Naltrexone is to alcoholism as Prozac is to depression. It is very commonly prescribed these days, but usually in tandem w/ Campral (acomprosate) and the protocol is abstinence. I think everyone in the world has probably experimented with SSRI/depression meds. NAL, I feel sure, is the next up & comer as being the accepted med for addiction. The problem is that label: addiction!! Only a few believe it can be cured! I do!!

What kills me is the so-called "professionals" who are calling the shots, have their own issues. Who hasn't been to a DR who is horribly obese?! Seriously - we/my family have interactions w/ 3 SERIOUSLY obese Drs. Is there a drug for food addiction yet? And altho their addiction is physically obvious, we know there are DRs out there addicted to other substances. It's ludicrous - the whole world has issues. You, Bob, are doing something about yours and get this ****.

It's scary and soooooo infuriating. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. In the meantime, seriously wondering if I should involve my Dr in my next step to Baclofen...scary all this is on my record.

And I keep finding myself in situations where I am asked, "Are you on any medications at this time?" And I lie. I have to. All this is just wrong -

hey - y'all speaking about obese doctors - have we forgotten Dr. Sinclair's latest effort is using Naltexone for weight loss? Isn't he doing a study right now? What a joke - these "fatty docs" will have to ABSTAIN from food while taking "our" drug! this makes me pee my pants laughing........

off topic a bit, and sorry to butt into Bob's stuff, but I am really and truly cured. Today, under very stressful conditions - friends brought over their brats who proceeded to plug up our toilet which overflowed all over my basement floor - $250 for plumber and a huge mess for me tomorrow with scrubbing brush, soap and hot water....however, I did not have a DROP TO DRINK!!!! I actually thought how fun to just get pissed and let it all roll by, but I had no interest!!!!

THIS DOES WORK!!! Some hope for you newbies out there!!!
