I've had sleep issues since I was a kid. Four years ago, I began to have bouts of terrible insomnia. In the past two years, I've come to rely on booze to sleep (terrible cycle). One or two drinks of course don't do it -- after two, I'm just wakin' up! When life prevents me from booze, I often use sleep medication (Temazepam). I want to quit the sleep aid in order to take TSM seriously. I start on nal in about two weeks. I know how to taper down off of the sleep meds but -- having known 72+-hour bouts of insomnia -- am terrified that I won't be able to sleep on AF nights once I start the nal or that I'll drink (or over-drink) on nights I normally wouldn't because I can't bear the thought of not sleeping.
Is there anyone here who's relied on booze and/or -pams to sleep? What has been your experience on the nal with sleep? I'm not worried about dreams/nightmares or anything like that -- believe me, insomnia is its own nightmare. I'm wondering if, once I'm not getting as many uppers (endorphins) from my own system associated with alcohol, I might be able to sleep after a drink or two rather than feeling like staying up with my pal the bottle until I'm able to crash?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.
