Just came off a 5 day bender, I am really confused and am not sure if I just need a break, should goto AA or keep tying with my Nal. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I am not on Nal yet. Can tell from experience that holidays is when benders happen.

If bender happens again without legit excuse I guess you have every reason to return product (Nal or Cure) to manufacturer.

What!??

Dizzy -- I'm not sure what the above quote means, but you can be reasonably sure a bender will happen again before your treatment is successful. Many of us have experienced an uptick in drinking right at the point where you are now. TSM is NOT a linear process. DO NOT let this worry you.

The surge in drinking is, according to Nick, known as an "extinction burst." Think of the bird, taught through classical conditioning, to receive a pellet of food after pecking a lever. When the pellet one day does not appear, the bird frantically pecks at the lever for a time before abandoning the pecking behavior (i.e. extinction).

Let us know how you're doing. Some of us have found an extinction burst is followed by significant progress, although it goes up and down.

That is a load off my mind. I just started my three month point and while on a two week vacation, I drank like a fish. I was (am) kinda wondering if it's working. I was going to start a thread about this but since you all are addressing this there is no point in starting a whole new thread. Now that I am back from vacation, I have noticed my drinking is way down. I hope this works. I am still kind of worried. I have been taking my NAL religiously at least an hour before I drink.

lena, this is true that around three month there may be an uptick?

Thanks.

I am in month 4 and am still drinking about a pint most days but other than gaining a few pounds, it has been pretty smooth

Hey guys, the final week of month 4 I posted my highest numbers of my entire TSM experience. This was immediately followed by a dive bomb in my consumption, ultimately resulting in my cure announcement. There is no reason to be fearful at this point, and every reason to be hopeful.
