Everyone -- Most of you know that the original members of this board met at a site called mywayout.org. And new members continue to find their way here from that site, which is a series of forums to learn about and discuss innovative alcohol treatments.

Baclofen is a drug that many on MWO use to treat alcohol addiction. In pm's and posts, I have mentioned that a MWO member named Bill P was an abundant source of information about baclofen. Astonishingly, Bill P got peeved at posts by another, long-time member who challenged him from time to time. So, Bill P pulled pretty much all his posts and left that board in a snit.

Lo0p has begun reconstructing the information base Bill P yanked. That will be enormously time-consuming. So I told him I am asking members here to step up responding to posts. When someone starts doing that, as he has lately, others (like me) tend to sort of slack off. Now it's time to ramp it up again!

I think it's pretty darned disgusting that one member would assume the role of gatekeeper of all things baclofen, then leave that community high and dry in a pout. In our board's informal culture, that would be impossible: No one personality dominates, and no one is indispensible. We're truly in this together. Gratitude for that really struck me when I saw what that guy tried to do to the folks who depend on him, just to spite one member.

You can get baclofen info from "Consolidated baclofen thread" over there.

If everyone could support Lo0p and the people at mywayout by responding to posts here, especially posts by newcomers, that would be great.

I know nothing of balc but I will tell you MWO was the first site I found and I was desperate. I thought aa was going to be my only choice in this fight and then I thought man Im a dead man walking. I went to MWO threw my story up out of desperation and a person on this forum PM'd. The woman that PM'd I will eventually owe my life to because that Pm has probably saved it. I continue to post there with my short journey on Nal even after being directed here because I figure the way the search for alcohol treament searches work, non aa, MWO comes right up on google. And WHEN I am successful on Nal (positive attitude) if my threads and document of my jouney helps some desperate soul like me get their life back I would love that. Those people at MWO are so cool and opened minded I hate see your post about bickering and taling info down that could save a persons life. Anything I can do I would be glad to help but I know nothing of balc..LOL cant even spell it.

I also want to thank all of you for posting your journeys EVEN after you have been cured. It gave me the hope to get my life out of hell and back on track.

I don't know a lot (OK, anything) about phpBB, but for the IPB forums I run, I have an edit window setting so that members can edit their posts for a couple hours - to correct typos and take back ill-considered posts they feel bad about - but once that edit window passes, no one but a moderator can disappear a post. This prevents anyone from creating a "memory hole" later.

Participation on a public forum is a public act - even when done anonymously. Retroactively rewriting history is not cool, IMO.

Unfortunately, I must respectfully disagree in a way. One person runs this board and does not currently share expenses or responsibilities. The bad part of that is if something unfortunate would happen to him, this board would be gone. The good thing is since I know who runs this board, he would never yank anything and is geniunely a good soul. I still worry about what would happen if he was gone for reasons beyond his control.

Yes.
Will do.

Bob

EDIT: Regarding the MWO baclofen guy; what he has done is reprehensible on every level. He now becomes responsible for the suffering and possible future deaths of those "his" information has helped thus far. I hope and pray he has a change of heart and can be the bigger, better person by reposting his information for the benefit of mankind. Anything less, and may God deal with him in His appropriate manner.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not getting any sleep because I'm trying to get all this stuff done or if I'm trying to get all of this stuff done because I'm not getting any sleep. :?

My PM box over there is on fire.
