Nick,

Don't get too worried. I've had some upticks in my drinking since declaring victory, I just haven't talked about it on here -- mostly because I've been busy. As SR pointed out, these desires to drink are similar to pre-sinclair. Halloween night, I dropped 12 or so units with no problem at all (this was all the drinking I did the entire week). I felt like crap for nearly two days after the fact.

However, my overall desire to drink remains low. If I were to continue to plot my progress, my drinking would average in the 10 or so units/week range, probably less. There have been a few weeks in there where my units shot up to the 25-30 range.

I'm starting to feel like the only way to completely avoid drinking like I did on Halloween night is to just avoid alcohol all together. Remember the gal in Eskapa's book with the family that went abstinent then at parties would say "Some people can handle AL, but I can't"

If you play with fire, you will get burnt. For people like us, AL is fire.

Yes and no! Of course, what we call ourselves is truly subjective but what is different from TSM and all other forms of treatment is that a biological change is taking place in your body as we speak.

AA uses a form of suppression and most other drugs assist in mitigating the craving by masking it. And of course Anabuse (the cruelest method) slaps you silly whenever you break the rules.

Right now you are mending yourself. No other method even attempts that. It is a slow process but a worthwild one. Stay the course.

Getting drunk is not just an alcoholic activity. Anyone that drinks too much alcohol will get drunk. I am not encouraging it by any means. Just give yourself a fair shake. You may have also snuffed out a trigger.

Sorry for shouting but it's now been weeks and weeks, and something needs to be done....

The banner needs changing AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - this site is NOT TSM.NET

Heya corkit :)

I am meaning to directly address the mods and admin (there is only one here) only with my last post - as they are the only ones who can do anything about this. They must have read this thread weeks ago, so what is going on here...?

Nick and I cannot change the banner. I'm sure N101CS will get to it when he has time.

I knew that already lena - sorry I didn't make it at all clear in my last post. Only N101CS can do anything about it, but I guessed that yourself and Nick chat to him through a mods-only section of the forum, and might draw it to his attention again.

We all know how busy N101CS is, surely it's time for someone else to be granted admin status to be able to change something as important (and imho pressing) as this? It's been weeks now, as I said.

I am incredibly grateful (and I would never be able to stress this enough) for all of N101CS's work - and of course of lena and Nick. The very existence of this forum may have saved my future life. But, what if anything ever happened to N101CS (gods forbid)? The whole community would be lost because there's only one admin.

DITTO, and I do so much appreciciate the site. Maybe we just need someone to step up to the plate, lena and nick , may be too busy themselves. Not me, I am not computer savy enough.
AGAIN thanks for all you do!
