I was puzzled by SR's response to your post. You deserve compassion, not criticism for not following the method to the letter. (Take the pill one hour before drinking and not on your AF day; it sounds to me you like you were doing that, more or less. It doesn't matter if you take it in the morning of a drinking day.) And you are not a "failure" if TSM does not work for you. Rather, you are very unlucky. I am very sorry that you are struggling. The book claims possible TSM benefits for up to three years -- I'll be hoping the best for you and that maybe you'll see some benefits over the longer term. Thank you for reporting your experience so openly and honestly. You are no failure. And we are all hoping for your recovery and that you will not be killed by alcohol.

My best to you.

Nick

drink2much I wish I could put my arms around you and give you a hug. Seven months seems so long but what if in the eight month it happens? I sometimes think so much of what we do is habit and ritual, day in and day out. What if you just scramble up your day get done what needs to get done but mixed it all up. Get out of the house, go for a 5 min. walk just do things differently. The reason I say this is if on Sunday you don't have a desire for AL says that the other 6 days may also be part of a habit. Good luck, this is just my thought.

Huh? Why would I be offended? I just don't want you to give up.

I never believed in my heart that TSM would work. I was just trying every known treatment no matter how obscure, accepted or unaccepted. But it worked despite my belief.

...Sunday is just Sunday - a special and different day in my week...
This has always puzzled me. This may be an odd question, but since I have worked odd work weeks over the decades, often I didn't know what day it was. So, how do you know what day it is? Every day is like any other day. They are all the same. The declaration that a particular day of the week is Sunday is purely arbitrary. If it is for religious reasons (I have always been such), I understand in a way, but the alcoholism trumped that for me. Perhaps because to me being a Christian (my particular faith) meant being a Christian every day of the week. So for me, no day was different than any other. But the AL addiction overcame everything I believed in. I tried everything and everything failed until I stumbled on to TSM, which I believed in my heart wouldn't work either (although I don't believe I explicitly stated it here before it worked). But suddenly it did work. I was quite surprised to say the least.

So are your Sunday AF days effortless? I'd like to understand your situation better. (I already completely understand the rest of your week).

Bob

Hello D2M,
I so much feel for you and have been thinking about you a lot.
It's awful, sitting alone worrying. Thoughts go round an round in your head, getting faster and faster and wilder and wilder until your
head feels fit to burst and you can't think straight any more then POP out it all floods (I've been there). As you have no support, you can't have the occasional vent and so the pressure builds up. I'm just talking from my own experience but wonder, from reading your previous thread if this is how it is for you. You had a great vent on your other thread and wonder if you feel a bit better having got your thoughts and worries out of your head and finding support from all the kind people on this board. Think how much better 1-4-the road felt after she/he had talked to a friend. So...when you feel frustrated and panicy and want a vent - remember we are here for you.

1-4 had some great advice, but I did have another thought. How many hours a day do you drink? It sounds as if you start quite early
in the day and if you carry on into the evening maybe a top-up of nal would be a good idea to be sure that you are well covered. I seem to remember that this was talked about earlier in the year, but I can't find the thread. I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will be able to advise you about this.
All the best. Keep your chin up.
Chris

D2M,
I am also one of those who have been on the program for a long time (31 weeks now) without a lot of progress. I am just hoping that it takes some of us daily drinkers who have been at this for a long time now, a bit longer to get to the finish line. I too have experienced even more consumption lately compared to my starting point. I am curious as others have stated how you go without AL on Sunday's on a regular basis? For me, who is a seven day a week drinker, I would love to have even one day AF like you do on a regular basis. For that I am envious. Is this just something you have always done and because of that it comes without effort? Thanks for sharing.

D2M - I understand your frustration, as I share it, but want to suggest upping your doseage. Hopefully you have a Dr. you are going thru, if not, I know it's expensive, but going to 100mgs may be the ticket. I have been there the last few months and while am seeing no significant changes, am putting my faith in the long haul. I'm just going with it until somebody tells me otherwise. Who knows - maybe it won't work for us or maybe it will take 5 times longer than everyone else. I'm going with the latter and continuing to hang in just because I am emotionally dependent on it at this point.

Hope it works for you!

I'm sorry it's not working for you. Don't give up the fight. Keep looking for alternative treatments.

I wish you my best in beating this thing.

Nick
