Even excellent, expensive wine doesn't taste very good anymore. I'm buying the cheap stuff because it all tastes about the same. And no warm fuzzies either I might need to start a new thread about that.

It seems to be a common phenomenon, but I didn't know how prevalent, thus the poll.

Nothing with alcohol in it tastes appealing to me any more. I can barely drink it now. Good riddance I say, although I wish I could have an occasional cold refreshing brew after a tough day at work... that's not gonna happen.

The abstract from the first study explicitly states "Naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, has been shown to reduce the palatability of 10% alcohol solutions in rats, as measured by taste reactivity." It would make sense that it would in humans also. In my case the alcohol did not become unpalatable until the de-addiction occurred.

I can neither agree or disagree. I find that while the beverages seem to taste the same, without the euphoria they lack the luster they used to have. Thus they aren't as tantalizing as they once were. So, they don't taste as good as they used to but they taste exactly the same as they used to.

So, I guess you selected "Neither Agree Nor Disagree" in the poll?
