Virgil,

Great....congrads,....Hey I had a mini hangover today after probably no more than 7 units. Headache and a little nausea,...Echoing Happy, I will try as well to go AF tonight in honor of you as I had an AF 2 days ago. This negative reinforcement of hangovers which I never had unless I drank a million units, is a wonderful bonus...(no I'm not a masochist)....

Go Virgil,...BEst, Jim

Hi Folks,

Week 33 just completed and resolve continues to work in my favour. OK, no significant reduction in units over the last week but, and here's the best bit - it hasn't gone back up. And that is quite something in a week when I have had more than my fair share of higher-than-normal anxiety. Don't know why but that's the nature of this beast.

As a result of starting the thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=940, I now have a better idea what I need to watch out for as TSM progresses. Boy, did that thread help to clear up some misunderstandings that I have held about TSM for so long! Consequently, I have started reading The Cure... once again.

I am due to start on my dietary supplements tomorrow. These are the supplements to help me withdraw from alcohol - supplements that will, hopefully, help my body/brain to restore optimum levels of GABA and other important nutrients. Incidentally, over the last two or three weeks, I have been using Valerian at night to help me sleep and it really appears to do the trick. I'm absolutely chuffed to bits about this because, previously, when I have used herbal remedies, they have had no effect (and that includes Valerian). I think this means that my body/brain has been purged of a shed-load of chemicals that were rendering these gentler remedies useless. Whatever the reason, things are looking up. BTW, I'm still taking Seroxat, albeit at a very low dose - but that won't be for much longer. :P

So, that's my summary for the week - wonder what I've forgotten to mention!

V.

Wonderful news about your consumption Virgil, well done!

I completely agree about the efficacy of herbal supplements when we're on prescription meds. I used to take Kalms (a mix of valerian, hops and gentian) in stressful times and they worked quite well - now that I've been on benzos for a few months they no longer seem to have any effect at all.

These meds have such a strong effect on our brain chemistry I'm sure. I used to take 1 or 2mg a week and would really feel what it did to me. If I took it at night I'd still be knocked out in the morning, and not properly rested (benzos suppress REM sleep, I think). Now I'm taking five to ten times that amount daily, I dread to think how it's messing with my brain. And, perhaps I'd better not start even getting going on how alcohol affects our bodies' absorption of the nutrients it needs...

Anyway, long may this continue for you my friend :D

I've just noticed your latest figures. Hearty congratulations my man! Your patience, perseverence, good humour and encouragament are a lesson and an inspiration to us all. I like your notion of 'resolve' - I've, in the last week, 'resolved' to be more pro-active in my own experience. I'm not content just to wait for TSM to work, I'm going to be the turbo-boost and fuel-injection rolled into one :D

Here's to your progress!

Hi 1-4,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not content, either, just waiting for TSM to work - I've done more than my fair share of that and, where has it got me? That's why I've introduced 'resolve' into the mix - I'm hoping that it will help. Love your statement "I'm going to be the turbo-boost and fuel-injection rolled into one" - excellent!

My best.

Hi Virgil
I don't have a chance to get on the computer as much has I'd like. But when I do I always read your post and have my fingers crossed for you. I just know one day I'll log on and find you on the cured list. Your the poster child for patient ones. I know your day is just around the corner.
Thank you
