15 Nov 09 - Update: Eating more chocolate. Having horrible hangovers when I drink more than 4 drinks. Craving very low. Still convinced at this point it's habit more than addiction for me. Sometimes my moods are irritable but that's actually better than depressed. Overall I am very pleased with the way this whole method is working for me today. I am grateful and able to focus better. I just am being patient with the process & progress, especially when I have a horrible hangover and then think/crave/desire/decide to stop off at the store & get some more. It's also better when I have nothing at home and have to get more vs. having a surplus of booze or beer that 'must be finished' instead of letting it just sit there. My wife who is sober 30 years still is somewhat skeptical of this method but is letting me do my thing without being threatened by it. She just hopes I keep my health and don't get into trouble. I do have a lot of other personality quirks that are attached to me and I hope to one day soon resolve them too. It a matter of aligning my personal integrity with the values and purposes I purport to portray. I can be duplicitous and that gets me into trouble with my self.

How are you all doing and who of you are actively involved in some area of personal growth and development with the management of your lives besides the management of your drinking?

I personally am deeply involved with David Allen's method of Getting Things Done GTD. Anyone else here into that?

XaJere your SO will have plenty of interesting reading on this board, but I think she will have a better understanding of what your dealing with right now.

Hi XaJere,

I think the biggest thing for me from the start of TSM was how pleased my wife was that I was not making a complete fool of myself or worse during any given drinking session. Funny how it works, as long as she is happy, everyone else is happy too, or better be lol.

all the best,

hap

Hey XJere, I told my wife about this site. I don't think she has been here yet. Probably a good thing cuz of some of the posts I have made. Don't want to come home to the rolling pin. Nah, she has a good sense of humor, kinda gotta.
I am glad she doesn't frequent at this point cuz I was thinking about it, what if i want to vent or somethin. I might stir up some stuff.
But I do wish she would read some of the stuff. Conundrum.
Have fun Mrs. XaJere.

XaJere -- You have contributed so much by your willingness to post here. I think it's great you're willing to invite your wife to view the board -- our warts and all. Please tell her she is welcome to get on and share her own perspective. We celebrate your progress! All the best.

Oh XaJere, you are so lucky to be able to share this with your wife, it will make the experience so much better for you. I am "under cover" and I wish my HB (husband) was able to begin to understand this struggle with AL.
I agree with you about the book, I get so much more from this site and the banter and communication.
