Thanks folks for all your comments.

The ones who have not made it yet, will eventually. The cure creeps up out of the shadows and boom, you suddenly have control. Further treatments and time give you more and more confidence and an ambivalence toward alcoholic beverages.

I hesitated in stating that I am cured for a number of reasons, but there is no denying the declining numbers, the persistent lack of cravings, and the realization of complete control over when I drink and moderate control of how much I drink. Today, my wife said she thinks that I have beaten my alcoholism and then cautioned me that "just because you're cured doesn't mean you can drink at some time in the future without your Naltrexone", which was kind of cute because we all know that fact here.

Based on the above facts, after 4 months and 25 days, I am now willing to state that: I have been cured of my alcoholism.

I now pronounce myself happy! TSM worked.
Naltrexone + Drinking = Cure :D :D :D

Thank you Dr. Sinclair for the research.
Thank you Dr. Eskapa for the book.
Thank you N101CS for the TSM forum.
Thank you lena and recently nick for the inspired moderating.
Thank you happy4once, Q, potato, and SpringerRider for being an example here of what it is like to be cured.
Thank you WTE, Kris, houtx, G4M, elfern, bamabeachin, ART, LaBear, cessation, craving, soberwithin, calikime, Firebird, soulbythesea, Providence, Virgil, Christy, Virginia, 1-4-the-road, PlainVanilla for commenting and encouraging me on my weekly progress thread (the order of the names is a chronological list of when you first commented on my thread).
I could not have reached the goal without all of you!

Thank you all!!!

Bob

My congrats. Wive's are a good indicator. I have used my wife as a guide and comparator step my step. I would say, "honey, this is what I feel when I drink a beer... is that the same with you?"

But a little caveat. I don't think we end up where our non-alcoholic counter-parts are at. Close, but not the same. Largely because of our history and that we never learned to ride the bycycle as they did. I won't go on my friend. You are an intelligent person. I just recommend that we all tread lightly once we get here. The ice may be a little thinner than we expected.

Abstinence or near abstinence should be the rule.

I needed to see this today -

On Friday and Saturday, drinking was very much under control and I was feeling so positive and wondering if the cure had finally started (9 weeks in)... Then on Sunday, I thought that I would have it under control and totally blew it. Have been feeling full of self-loathing today. I actually thought this was going to be the 1st Monday that I could start the week feeling great instead of hungover.

You guys have given me the ability to move forward and feel hope again. Thanks -

SR - your reflections on the life after really struck a chord... there is no way that I believe I will ever be a regular non-drinker.. that demon will just be waiting, perhaps for over-confidence, possibly thinking that it's ok to drink without Nal every once in a while. Will be on guard for that..

Sorry to dig up old posts, but they are all new to me as I am reading all that I can.
I have just received my book so have not read enough to know so I will ask here.
When you are cured will you still take Nal for the rest of your life?
That is ok with me but just wondered.

Cheers,
Brit

Sorry I missed your post by several days. The answer is Yes, but only when I drink which is getting quite rare these days. I only drank 7 times in the past 4 weeks, so 7 pills.

Bob

Bob gave my answer. The irony of TSM is that the very reason we chose this method was so we could continue to drink yet once we get to the finish line, the desire to do so is so very dimimished. Yet that is what it is all about!

Bob, congratulations it sounds like you got to the finish line. You've got your life back, so what will you do with it now?
