A Functional Polymorphism of the μ-opioid Receptor Gene is Associated with Naltrexone Response in Alcohol-Dependent Patients

If anybody wants it just let me know. The results seem to be VERY clear-cut to me.

Something seems strange to me though:


This is a graph of time to first relapse. Forget the gene variants, this clearly shows naltrexone having an anti-craving effect prior to any extinction taking place.

Also, look at the plateau where no patients relapsed around day 42...across all treatment groups. What is that?

What is the size of the treatment groups and what are the circumstances of their treatment (Are they "hospitalized"? Are they general folks who participate in the trial and have full freedom of their actions? What country was this conducted in? Was alcohol available during the time around day 42?)

PS Thanks for posting the study graph. I always suspected that Naltrexone has a non-Sinclair effect initially, otherwise it would have never been approved as an anti-craving drug. Dr. Sinclair discovered a far more effective way of using the drug.
