I was just wondering after reading a lot of posts and realizing how young this board is...what is the longest recording use of Nal a cured TSM participant in the cured state has continued to take Nal & drink socially or not take it & abstain? In other words, has Dr. Sinclair released any statistics about someone in Finland, I suppose, who has been cured now for 5-10 years who still takes a Nal (like it's purported to be) for the rest of our lives if we wish to drink? Do you see where I am going here? My hope is in longevity. I know there are some young TSMer's here who are in their 20's. Surely something new in science may come to pass but is a 28 year old today going to be taking a Nal tablet in the year 2050 if he or she wants to have a beer? Are we really here for the long haul or could we be part of a fad. I am NOT cynical by nature...but I do wonder about the longevity factor. Heck AA is still relatively young too and it's gone through a lot of changes. Surely medicine will find something better than Nal and it will probably be in even our lifetime even if we are 54 years old!

They did a 3 year follow-up study and found that out of the people that were still using the protocol (Nal 1 hour before drinking) there was ZERO incidence of relapse to heavy drinking and they were uniformly drinking less than they were after they were initially cured. As for the people that were not still using the protocol...not so much.

There is something, I think in the book, about at 3 years 50% were still doing it and drinking at safe levels. I will try and look that up at some point. I know I read it and others have pointed it out on these posts.
I know if this works, bar me flipping out, I am very willing to pop a pill to continue.
