Virgil it is absolute wonderful to hear of your renewed hope, determination and spirit, I am so very happy for you!

It's ironic that that awful appointment with the psychiatrist has perhaps had something to do with that, but I would consider making a complaint and demanding to see a different one (there are procedures in place for this).

Hi 8,

Your suggestion of making a complaint is a good one - thanks for suggesting it. I am going to pursue this.

All the best.

What amino acids are you taking?

Hi Craving,

Thanks for your kind words.

Regarding the amino acids, I haven't started taking them yet. I'm at the stage of deciding which ones to take so I'm reading up about them.

All the best.

Great post Virgil and great to hear the renewed optimism!

I like to hear that you are taking all of this a bit more into your own hands. I still believe our time will come. =)

Thanks, WTE. I also believe our time will come. Whilst ever we continue to support each other, we can make our voyage of discovery that little bit easier.

All the best.

I came across amino acids only by reading your thread. never saw that topic before in combination with alcohol ...
Pretty much all I know about it is, that certain amino acids are given after a clinical operation to help you recover faster. I used to take those sometimes when I was stressed out and felt tired.

If you find anything useful please let me know!

All the best Virgil!

Hi Virgil,

I'm SO happy to hear about this new surge of determination. :D I'm also glad you'll pursue making a complaint about that jackass - he could send someone in desperate need right off a cliff! It's so tragic that people like that are involved in a profession dedicated to help, but their twisted attitude does far more harm than good.

Hi K1,

Thanks for your comments. As always, they are greatly appreciated.

I've started the ball rolling regarding my experience with the psychiatrist. But, what a palaver! So much red tape in the NHS. And when you eventually find someone that can help, you get an answerphone saying "Sorry, we have no-one available to take your call at the moment. All our staff are on training today"!! Dear, oh dear. That was the response I got from the Department of Health's Independent Complaints Advocacy Services (ICAS). This could prove to be an uphill struggle, but I like a challenge - within reason!

All the best.

H there, Virgil. I've just had a "Virgil marathon" by reading all 25 pages!!! Very interesting. Like many others I feel I know you a little bit - amazing how that happens between strangers. I'm very sorry that your efforts have not paid off, YET.

Can I ask a dumb sounding question? :? I know many people read your journey so maybe there will be some insights. And please believe me when I say I don't want to offend anyone but:

If most of us have been able to stop that initial rush of the first drink with naltrexone, why do we continue to drink?

Hi BGH,

Wow, you just read all 25 pages! I don't normally recommend that except as a cure for insomnia, when it may come in handy!

I can't offer anything in reply to the question you have raised because I don't think it applies in my case.

Best.

Hi Virgil,

I'm so glad to hear you've been taking steps to complain about that medical 'professional'. A session with someone with that sort of attitude could have such very grave consequences for someone in the wrong frame of mind. I don't know about ICAS, but have been through PALS before with complaints in the past, they may act as a liaison service, perhaps you've never come across them:

http://www.pals.nhs.uk/cmsContentView.aspx?ItemID=932

BGH, congratulations on your Virgil 'marathon'! There are so many fascinating individuals, threads, and posts on this board that I completely understand, especially with the enthusiasm that comes with first starting. Have you read the book yet? I believe all the answers to your questions are in there. Or you could post your questions on your thread, and I'm sure you would get excellent replies about how you are feeling and where you are right now. I could answer your questions but it would be a very long and off-topic post on what is Virgil's thread. I guess the short answer though is: TSM takes time to work, and what you are going through is a part of that long(ish) process. I do encourage you to seek answers elsewhere for further explanation, and detailed responses :)

V, keep on keeping us posted! All the best to you :)
