I just want to thank you so much and Firebird and the other cured one for still posting. It is sooooo encouraging. Reading your struggle and your finial success gives me hope. I wish there were more posting. I'm sure when your cured there isn't a lot more to say, but the fact that there isn't is also encouraging (am I making sense) THANKS

Your are very welcome.

It is harder to stay engaged when alcohol is no longer a struggle and is not the focal point of one's life anymore. I do browse the TSM forum daily, although I may not comment daily as I used to. I intend to stay and comment where applicable. Also, I'll post a graph once a week until the end of the year. The day-to-day comments would be kinda dull, though, such as "today I had no craving and had some tea and pretzels and remained AF for the 4th day". Real snoozer that would be! Thanks again for your Thanks.

:D Bob :D

I.5 times a week on average . Now why do you think this is ?
Is it the alcohol deprivation effect ? Is it the ADE in your case that has greatly weekened but pitches up at weeks end ? Is it the same ADE for people say three years later do you imagine ? Has not extinction fully set in for them yet?
Or is it dancing with the beast through habit that makes them different from those who go permanentally abstinent .
I guesss there are two questions really one for you where you're at now _ is it the ADE ? . I understand answering from your own experience counts here and more your ideas for when you think of others at three years but either way I'd be glad to see what you think...
Yes, I go for about a week now without alcohol, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter; the day of the week doesn't seem to matter. I have not reasoned out the why, yet. It could be ADE, but it doesn't seem likely if the Naltrexone blockade is in effect each time I imbibe. It can't be a habit, since it is never on the same night or even the same time.

I am unsure this has answered your question.

Bob

That's fine Bob , thanks
I guess AD = Craving and ADE = Drinking . NAl blocks it and that's all we need .
I intend to just let it takes it course and worret no more.

Today marks one half year for me on TSM.

As I have said before, I cannot believe this actually worked! It still amazes me.

Although I have not given up on telling others about TSM, I am much more conscious of the fact that people in general are more opinionated, obstinate and close-minded than I ever thought possible. This conclusion was reached after I was banned for life on soberrecovery.com. I was happy that some were satisfied with their method of sobriety, but don't insult my intelligence by quoting the Big Book as if it were the Bible. It aint the Bible. And don't tell me my method is inferior because I haven't addressed my "spiritual problem". I guarantee I'm more spiritual than all of them put together. That's why I could never get into AA. I have my own religion and I use the Bible for guidance, not the Big Book. So, kudos to those who are over there representing our version of Sober Recovery. I cannot go back and I unfortunately do not have the patience.

As of today, my signature will only reflect units and I am dropping AF days, because of the 255 character limit. Also, I will be begin posting a cute monthly graph (with no polynomials, of course) each month. Each week, I'll post my weekly cute graph.

Also, below you'll notice a piece of a spreadsheet that shows the average unit reduction over my six months on TSM (highlighted in red). Notice it is a reduction of 1 unit per day per month as mabelee first noticed. I was shocked when I calculated mine as a reduction of 1.05 units per day per month which may as well be 1 since we're not measuring results to 3 significant figures.

So here are the graphs in all their cuteness:

Another week goes by. I think I am settling into my new found control. I had one drink Monday night... very relaxing, just like normal people do! Dry for three days with no desire for alcohol whatsoever. Friday, I didn't think I wanted anything to drink, either. In fact I went to the store to buy fuel and got some ice cream then came home. I then realized I felt like drinking. So I got back in the car (after my Naltrexone) and back to the same store and bought some beer, got home and waited. Then, as usual, I didn't feel like drinking, but I already had taken my Naltrexone, so I had to have something to extinguish. So, in this case, I forced myself to drink, even though I didn't want to... quite different from Monday night.

I hope everyone who makes it to "the cure" has it this easy!

Cute graph follows:

Starting to look more like an exponential decay curve and the correlation coefficient is increasing, too.

Can you believe I let a Sunday pass by without posting my week's progress? I hadn't had anything to drink in so many days I had forgotten to update my spreadsheet. Anyway, after I remembered today, I just now had the time to change it and post it. Drinking desire remains low, but I still get a mild urge about once per week now to have something. I have not yet had a zero Sunday-to-Sunday week since I started TSM and I don't think week 30 will be it. I haven't actually tried. Maybe some other week. I'm still enjoying drinking at one tenth of my pre-TSM level.

Hi Bob,

You have such a great chart!! I was looking at an older one of yours earlier today..trying to find some optimism. Just came off a bad few days in terms of cravings and of not feeling in control, much like the beginning. The only way to keep my chart showing progress for the week is going AF today (almost done) and the next 2 days. So tired of waiting, waiting, waiting for that definitive feeling of success. These glimmers are just not strong enough anymore.

Thanks for your continued involvement.. it helps.

At week 15 now and so ready!!!

Thanks a bunch! I wasn't sure if these graphs would be interesting to anyone, but it's especially nice to know that they are helping someone.

Wow, week 15. I remember that particular time was not a good week and the week after that my drinking got even worse, so I understand how you feel. Then "the cure" started working out of nowhere and the unit levels came rollercoastering (new word) down to normal drinking levels. Hang in there. The timing may be different for you but it does happen.

Bob

Seconded and thirded, Bob! It's so encouraging when you post, and lovely to read of your continued progress. Plus, you seem almost like part of the fixtures and fittings round here, it just wouldn't be the same without you :)
