Hi everyone!
I am posting this as a relative newbie to the TSM. Today is the first day of my 7th week taking Naltrexone and using TSM. I hope I am posting this in the right place...had a bit of difficulty trying to post. Anyway, I have been reading the forum over the last 2 months and have found it greatly informative and encouraging :D. A bit of my history...I have been a heavy problem drinker for at least 25 years and have a family history of alcoholism on both my parents sides. I realised I had this problem and sought treatment for it 10 years ago, I tried all the conventional stuff, AA, several home detoxes, CBT , acupuncture, psychology etc etc.. except for rehab, all had very limited success and I would remain abstinent for a few weeks before succumbing to the evils of alcohol once again (actually the longest I stayed abstinent was 16 months but I had a fulfilling full time job back then). I am being treated for chronic/complex PTSD as well as anxiety and depression due to a traumatic childhood as well :| I came across TSM almost by accident when one of my GPs prescribed Naltrexone without any explanation or guidance. I did some subsequent research and came across TSM on wikipedia!!! I got a copy of Dr Eskapa's book and just went for it, although it sounded too good to be true I felt like nothing else worked for me so I had to try,
After one month, without consultation my GP withdrew his script for Nal with no explanation, determined to see it through I ordered some from alldaychemists in India, seems to be a well used and reliable source, so went a week without meds but still drinking, back on the Nal now and just waiting for things to happen, still being impatient but the method makes good sense to me so I plan to see it through. Sorry to waffle on but I hope that God is with us all on this journey and I look forward to hearing from anyone on TSM with any advice/ tips etc..Love and thanks to you all

Hi Benjy :)

Welcome to the board, and to joining all the others of us here on the TSM journey!

No waffle there that I could see! - it's fascinating and insightful to read as much about people's histories and experiences with TSM as they are willing to share - though surely without exception all our stories have great troubles - and my great hope is that our stories will reach out to many MANY others in the future just like those in Dr Eskapa's book.

A new future most hopefully lies ahead for us now :D

And we are not too far apart in start times - I began August 6th, so I will watch your progress with great interest.

Wishing you every success.

P.S. Are your figures US or UK by the way?

Welcome aboard benjy! :D I've been waiting for you to post, I'd seen that you started TSM a while ago.

Would like to collaborate with us on our google spreadsheet? We talk about it here: http://www.thesinclairmethod.net/community/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=755&sid=10797653325836c9337c262d162e6c88

I get a general sense of what you UK'ers mean when you say the word "waffle," but could someone define it for me? -E

Hi Eight days a week and LoOp
Thanks very much for your welcome messages, I too will look forward to seeing your progress and sharing experiences with you. Thanks LoOp for the link to the google spreadsheet, I will check it out soon, BTW 'waffle' just means to verbally procrastinate, don't know if there is a food connection  .BTW 8 my alc units are UK measures and I tend to be a 24/7 'sipper' but as you can see can 'sip' rather a lot :( . God bless you and will share more soon
Thanks
Benjy :D

Hi benjy,

Good to have you on board!

There must now be at least half a dozen active Brit members in this community.

I read your first post on this thread and quickly realized that you could have been talking about me. We have so much in common. I have big problems with anxiety (and to a lesser extent, depression) and, like yourself, I can trace these to a traumatic childhood. I'll leave it at that, for the moment.

All the best to you!

V.

Hi Virgil
Thanks for your post, I hope in the not too near future there will be many more of us on Board with the TSM :D I also look forward to reading about your progress :) Yes, anxiety and depression are common features that go hand in hand with problem drinking, but these horrible feelings should diminish if not disappear with perseverence through the TSM. I am currently experiencing a two day period where I don't feel much like drinking at all, which for me, is nothing short of a miracle  I will look back at your earlier posts to remind me of your story. All the very best my friend
Benjy

Hey benjy,
Welcome. I am pretty new also. One thing I want to point out, I keep posting questions and such that have already been asked, commented on, and/ or answered. I have decided to continue anyway. I don't think anyone would expect someone to read this whole forum in a short time. There are a lot of posts.
I have noticed that other members here are kind enough to enter links to the threads of past discussions.
Here is a link that was posted a while ago to that I came across. I read it for the comments section, as we already know the meat of the article.

Once again welcome, hope to keep in touch.

Thanks WTE. It is good to know that we can count on each other. The questions come up in discussions a lot of times and I don't think to search the forum in the midst of it.
