 If the 50 actually was enough the increase wouldn't change anything
It just is damn, damn slow whatever the dose ! ?

Words of encouragement all the same . :o

You 'll be OK

Hi, WTE, so sorry that the 100mg has not worked YET! I am still hoping it will for you. Don't know what else to say but that I am right there with you!

WTE,

We are both at quite similar stages. You increased the dose more or less at the same time when I did so - just I only increased to 75mg.

What we really need to look at are the changes in our behavior rather than the changes in units.

-Did you ever drink a unit into one sip? I am not doing this anymore.
-Do you enjoy drinking? It appears to me that the pleasure of the taste is getting better. Afterall it feels more like drinking for the taste than for the alcohol (this is a very strange view for an alcoholic!)
-Do you have a cap? Do you feel like you can not handle a certain unit amount per day and you rather stop than feeling bad?

... i think there are more points. Are you still thinking about alcohol all day? Are you just waiting for having your first drink all day? If we all look back a couple of months and think how it was before then we will see a huge difference!

If you put all these information into a bigger picture you will come to one conclusion : Nal is "rewinding" your addictions. Like in the movies when you press "rewind". The longer you take Nal the more you travel into your past where your addiction was different/lighter.

Now for some people the rewind is faster than for others. It seems we rewind maybe at speed "2x" where others rewind at speed "4-5x".
It does not matter - as we are rewinding - it will just take more time to get to the start point - but no matter what speed - at some point you are finished rewinding and you are at the start point ...

All the best to you WTE. Simply stick with it - and it will work out!

Exactly 119 days. Yes 17 weeks. ;)

Yes, however long it takes. I like Craving's analogy of rewinding.

I wonder how soon one is supposed to notice a change in drinking after a change in dose. Since nal is not an anti-craving med, it wouldn't make sense to see any significant immediate changes beyond perhaps another honeymoon for a few days. This method is so "outside the box" of how we have come to view the instant fix of taking a pill. So don't let it get you down if nothing different happens right away.

We're in this together.

WTE,

I can only sympathize.

If TSM goes as intended (whatever that may be), it's nothing short of a miracle. But, if it doesn't go as intended, my experience is that it can feel like groping in the dark.

My best wishes.

V.

I am so with you, gf. There's not much I can say and not sure your getting a doctor to prescribe this will help...except maybe making it cheaper. Taking 60 pills/mo must be way expensive if you are going it thru River. Last I looked it was close to $100 for 30. Yikes!!

I am trying to just hang in with the new dose - now thinking another 4-6 months, which means a full year in Feb. I feel nothing. And can't think too much about it or I will get terribly depressed. Just trying to live each day, take the NAL, drink. Unlike Nick or others on here, I am not planning any AF days. I don't plan these things. I am waiting to feel the "ehhhhhh" effect and they happen on their own, I hope. So far, nada.

GIRL, I totally understand the ehhhhhhh feelings out there. Being in a fun situation but thinking how much you just want to be home, not thinking about it. You did not sound "down", but I think we are on the same page. Everything else ok?? I hope so -

We just gotta have hope and continue what we are doing. Again, it's this emotional connection to NAL at this point...and the "please god, make it work for me" feeling...so frustrating that it hasn't yet...so hopeful that it will!

XO
