Yesterday was the first day of Nal for my husband and myself, it took forever to get here because of the holiday. I was nervous after hearing what everyone said about the first time effects but the only thing that happened to me was just a little light headed and no appetite. My husband on the other hand felt sick to his stomach and had to push himself to drink 2 units (usually 10 - 12 units for him), not me I drank 5. We both feel fine now the next morning and now we start the journey!

Thanks houtx, we're going on day 3 and I've had no side effects at all but my husband did the first day so we're upping the dose to 50mg today. I'm a little worried that it's working seeing I didn't feel anything at all, is that common?

Welcome to the pair of you. Don't worry that you didn't have side effects. You read about them because the ones who experience them are more likely to go on about them; I don't recall serial posts from anyone saying they had no side effects. The important thing is that you've started. Keep us posted on the progreess.

hi Lena, we both took Nal 50mg today for the first time and the only way I feel different taking Nal even at at a lower dose is it seems like I lost my appetite, food just doesn't appeal to me. My husband is a much heavier drinker than I sometimes he was almost a 24/7 so his appetite has been abnormal for awhile. I'm keeping track of what I drink but he's still in the frame of mind he keeps it a secret you know " I didn't have anything to drink" even though he knows the meds work with drinking, so as long as I know he took the NAL I'm happy and he's on his way.
