A while ago Dr. Eskapa suggested that we consider posting this link to a resource for doctors who are qualified to prescribe suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addicts. Suboxone has properties similar to naltrexone, so perhaps these doctors, familiar with suboxone, will grasp TSM more easily than other MD's and therefore be willing to prescribe it. At least they will be more easy to educate about TSM. There remains that pesky warning about liver function in the prescribing info, but MD's should understand this was based on a single study in which subjects were administered 300 mg nal -- six times the 50mg for TSM protocol.
I notice an uptick in posts re: finding an MD, so I decided to go ahead and post it. No guarantees, but it's another resource.
http://www.suboxone.com/patients/resour ... octor.aspxI too have been looking for a Dr. in the L.A. area. Lena was kind enough to give me this information (see quote). My boyfriend is in Redondo Beach/Torrance area. I made phone calls and have found 2 Drs. that prescribe it so far, and am waiting on call backs from 2 more Drs. Don't know how they use NAL but if it is by abstinence, then he will just have to fib as many, unfortunately, have to do to use TSM. You will find some people here lucky enough to have found Drs. who do prescribe it as the TSM protocol.
So far
Dr. Robert Swift of Torrance Family Practice.........this location is in Manhattan Beach. (310) 939-7847
Dr. Laurence Gorlick in Rolling Hills Estates. (310) 544-6858
I just called the offices and asked the receptionist if the Dr. prescribed Revia or Naltrexone. I didn't go into details of how they prescribed it..........just wanted the information for now and then we will see. Have only called a few, but there seems to be lots of Drs. on the Suboxone website. Just put in your zip code and make some calls. Good luck.........I am sure you will find one.
I will post more information on these Drs. as I get more information on how they prescribe.
