HI all,

Am I naive in thinking that the scrip for Nal needs to be not known by your GP? :o

Need I be mad :x or shocked  ok I'll stop that was for the emiticonaholics....

Aren't we protected through privacy laws?

I don't even flinch going to the shrink getting the Nal (I know we're all not so blessed to have health insurance), and I am trying to get into a program with a shrink who actually does the Sinclair Method (Dr. Pearlman). In the meantime, I'm lying to my psychotic shrink although, I did lose my scrip, called her and she called me back. She was actually nice. So chalk one up for the loon, she's still on probation but I'm not firing her. If she acts 2 or three degree's below Nicholson in the "Shining", I'll keep her on. Because I do enjoy her rather acerbic, caustic demeanor, it gives me entertainment. No I'm not into S&M but I think crazies are entertaining,...I'm a little nutty too,...

My idea is to tape it and if she acts crazy, put the soundtrack to animation. Any suggestions what I should cast her as animation wise? Dragon? And what about me? A vulnerable looking rabbit? A smart ass looking cat? My luck though, she probably won't put on the shows that she has for the last two sessions...BEst, Jim

In the US there is an entity called the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) which is maintained and paid for by participating insurance companies. It's purpose is to collect medical information so that they can use it to deny coverage or make it more expensive to cover people with a bad medical history. I know that life insurance companies do this for sure, I'm a licensed California Life-Only Insurance Agent. I'm not sure if health insurance companies participate. I'm also not sure what types of information they are allowed to collect and to what extent.

Hi Jim, yes MIB does collect info for health insurance companies. My husband and I choose to go to our GP, one, to buy Nal online for the both of us we'd have to take out a loan! for two, because we're very blessed in that our work situation we're kind of ensured of keeping our insurance and three, we wanted the medical care of our GP while doing tsm. National healthcare is not going to go away and it won't be long that we get it whether we believe in it or not so no one will be turned down no matter what.

One of good features of our system here in Canada is that people like my husband and I who have no coverage through work anymore (we go on the government system at 65 from the work coverage) is that we get free drugs. EXCEPT the really good ones!!!!  like naltrexone. 30 pills cost me darned near $190. So paying for a steady supply from River looks good. At least I don't have to shlep back to ole Doc John every month and beg for more!! We do have a variety of plans here like in the U.S. but for basic stuff we're all covered. Here in the Niagara Region we can also pop across into NY state for doctors and treatments that we can pay for, if we don't want to wait here.

Talk about paranoia eh? As for privacy, as we can't get kicked off our national system it seems not quite so important here. I know Jim's post was about privacy for insurance purposes, and I can appreciate how important that is, but on a personal level, I think I'm going to be pretty upfront with friends, neighbours, and everyone I meet about TSM - but not until after I'm cured!!

Guess I'm screwed.

What a lovely system we have in the US.

"Hi, I'd like to live a healthier lifestyle."

"Excellent! Congratulations. Also, now you're uninsurable. Thank you and have a nice day."

This is my theory for what its worth. When did the book The Cure for Alcoholism come out? The first people who tried the Cure when did they start? Do you think the US will have a National Healthcare plan go through anytime soon? Nothing like this just happens by chance. So please stay calm this will all work itself out, I'd like to think that Dr. Eskapa knows a lot more of what is going on then we do. Let's just keep moving forward. :|
