The progress has been encouraging for me. I just discovered the topic of the spike around week <20> give or take for 2-6 weeks. Well if that happens, so be it.

Interesting night Friday. I've been feeling ill during the past few days (seems Nal/Alcohol related) & have taken my Nal 1 hour prior to drinking. I've been gettiing very bad headaches after 2 beers and the next day has been like a bad hangover. So Friday, I took only 25mg of Nal and an hour later while preparing dinner I had 50ml of bourbon & during dinner I had a 12 oz beer. That was all I wanted. Had dessert later too. Usually don't like sweets after drinking. Went to bed at 9:30 on a Friday & got up at 5am this morning, a Saturday. Felt great.

Tonight I had 4 standard drinks in a 2 hour period and was 2.5 hours ago. I am yawning away my Saturday night now and will be in bed by 10. I am liking this. G-nite.

So happy for you XaJere, you're going in the right direction and it won't be long until you're in the cured list. Good night sweet prince!

Wow XaJere! Your progress looks amazing! Reminds me of AJ's quick cure. Would you mind if I asked how old you are and how long you've been addicted?

Hi Lo0p and all.

In response to Lo0p's & my private message; Lo0p commented on my progress & asked about my age. After writing the below summary it was mentioned that there is some discussion about time being addicted in relation to progress in TSM? I can only tell you that if that is a theory & I am breaking it I believe my personal constitution and desire to be free from addiction has something to do with this. I have tried AA, Church, Rational Recovery and a little know place called the OPTION INSTITUTE. All have contributed to a vast wealth of knowledge and self-awareness. However, chemical balance has always been a theory that I've believed in and if that be justified, TSM will prove it right. Regardless here is my summary...

I'm 54. I started drinking around 10, got serious from about 16-23 Drank heavy-drugs, etc. in the 70's. Went to AA from 24-44 & stayed clean. Church from 44-48. Back to drinking 48-53. Last year I was drinking about 16 standard drinks. Quit, detoxed at home, got on Naltrexone for the way it's actually prescribed, to reduce craving & stay sober. That worked till June. Drank from June - September until I found TSM. My drinking never got much higher than about 10 standard drinks. As you can see the Nal is working as TSM says. I am amazed!

Thanks for the comment & encouragement. 8-)

I'd be really interested to hear how much you were drinking in between 48-53. You ended at 16 drinks (a day?). I don't necessarily think your experience is at odds with our theory.

I built up to drinking about a 'pint' (375ml) of bourbon a day plus or minus a couple beers. That was my average. When I quit last Oct 23, my withdrawal was that of high anxiety, sweats, high blood pressure and fear of having a panic attack or seeing things. My doc prescribed diazapem for me to use until I felt comfortable. It was unusual that he allowed my to do at home detox. He trusted me & I was sincere.

Just to rehash this; lately I can't seem to do much more than about 6-7 beers without being deathly hungover the next day. That of course is with Nal 1 hour prior.

If you have any other :?: just ask

I'm interested in how long it took you to build up to that. Were you drinking moderately for a couple of years or did you pretty much jump right into to 375ml of bourbon?

AJ had been drinking for years but he only really considered himself addicted for 1 year.

Also, when you were drinking from June to Sept. this year, were you taking the nal at that time?

On April 5, 2003 I picked up a Guinness Irish Extra Stout. Over the next few years I picked up my volume progressively alternating with every booze, wine & beer available. I've loved the taste as well as the effect. Some combo's were bad like like Blackberry Brandy & DogFish Mahogany? Wow. Just so you know when I drank as a teen & young adult I built up the same way.

AJ had been drinking for years but he only really considered himself addicted for 1 year. I think I see where you are going with this one. I suppose I was psychologically (habitually) addicted first then the last year I could say I was physically addicted too.

Also, when you were drinking from June to Sept. this year, were you taking the nal at that time? Yes I took Nal almost daily in the period of June -Sep the only difference is that I took it upon waking with another med, generic Wellbutrin that I've taken since 1993.
