Took my first 25mg tab today. (will take 25mg again next time and then graduate up to 50).

I dont not what I was expecting. But I felt the same buzz from the wine as i always do. Ended up drinking a bottle and a half. Is that normal? Are you supposed to feel the opiod inhibitors start inhibiting hehe..(Sorry, perhaps I shouldnt be postin right now)

Hi zman -- No, you don't "feel" the opioid receptor blockade. There is the gamut of experiences in the early days and weeks. Eskapa says any reduction in drinking, or anything else you experience in the early days and weeks, is meaningless. The dismantling of the neural pathways over several weeks is a process that connot be felt.

Lena is right. Some people go through what's called a "honeymoon" phase in the first week or two, where their craving for alcohol drops significantly. It feels encouraging, but it's not the real deal. This is far from an instant cure. I am on week 19 -- sometimes I lose track! -- and while I have felt some significant changes, I certainly would not label myself "cured." It really depends on your body chemistry, how long you've been drinking, and so many other things. Patience, patience, patience....that's what this board is for! Good luck as you start the journey.
