I'm feeling down.
It's been 18 weeks.
My drinking is exactly the same. One bottle of wine a day.
The only change I see is that I don't get a high with the first drink, but I keep drinking until I get that high.
I still love alcohol. I love the feeling of being relaxed and feeling light.
I hate the hangover the next day. I hate the feelings of guilt I experience the next day. I feel dejected and miserable at the moment.

Hi D3,

18 weeks - yourself
19 weeks - WTE
20 weeks - me, just completed

I think the three of us should give each other (and ourselves) a big pat on the back for our perseverance. I'm sure that success awaits us!

V.

This is the love-hate relationship that we all share with AL. It is a bit of a wicked cycle.

Tell us a little about your numbers. They have stayed exactly the same for 18 weeks?

I don't understand what you mean by numbers.
I don't do units.
I drink 750 ml (a bottle) a day of wine. I know that might not seem much to some, but I am not very tall and do not weigh very much. And I feel the effects of alcohol on my body very much. I rarely drink more than a bottle, sometimes less.
Before nal I didn't drink everyday. When I began with nal I made the decision to drink everyday to speed up the process? That probably was a bad decision, but it's too late to change that now.

hi ddd, I too have been taking Nal since the end of February and I am very down today. I am feeling very depressed and lifeless. I am so hoping for a change of heart for you and for me.

I do see small changes but I get into a funk and then it all seems hopeless and unsuccessful.

So I do not know what to say except I am with you, discouraged but continuing on in hopes of a better tomorrow.

you should try and figure out the number of units you drink - it won't make much difference when its easy to measure (e.g. 1 bottle), but it will when your consumption drops (and if you stick to the TSM method, it will!).

The UK units of alcohol are quite easy to work with - 1 unit is 10ml of pure alcohol. Wine is about 12.5% (give or take), so you need 100/12.5 *10 ml to have one unit, i.e. 80 ml of wine.
A bottle is 750 ml, so approximately 9-10 units (allowing for some wines being a little stronger).

Safe limits for women (I think you're female  ) are ~14 per week and no more than 3 per sitting on average, so that is your target. Good luck, and post through the hard times - you'll get plenty of support here and the journey will be worth it.

DDD:

Remember, as Q, Bob and others here have reported, they were feeling down when a sudden "click" went off and suddenly they saw DRASTIC improvement. This could be you! TSM works -- we just added two more today to the CURED list - Netty and Happy4Once. I believe that is 4 of the first 5 posters on this board! It works at different rates for everyone. It sucks, it's hard but we are all rooting for you! Keep your chin up, as best you can. Better times are just around the corner.

Best always,

Nick
