Thanks all for your kind responses. Yes, I am up and down on my drinks. This was bad week. Social events every night and even lunches with drinks. No AF day! Happily yesterday, I finally noticed that Nal works again. I ordered a large bottle of beer in a restaurant (somehow the thought of ordering a small one did not look appealing), but then could not finish it. I felt mixed feeling about the left over beer. I was sorry to waste beer and also happy that I do not desire it, but I also felt stupid that I did not order a small bottle instead. Later at a party, I only had 2 glasses of wine. I looked at a third one, but went for water instead. It was as if having more wine was not desirable anymore. I hope that this stage of no-desire continues.

I have been traveling for some time and did not have the chance to post. Happily, I was very good with my units this time. This was mostly related to the fact that I was traveling with a friend who rarely drinks and we usually only had one small bier with dinner. I took Nal and after that one drink had no desire for more. I feel so much better now and cannot praise enough what Nal has done for me. Alcohol is becoming a non-issue in my life. I never think about it anymore and now even can have alcohol at home and do not think about drinking. For example, at the moment there are two bottles of wine in the fridge and they will stay there until I take them to dinner party tomorrow. In the past, they would have been consumed and a new bottle would be bought on the way to the party. I only hope that things continue in this way.

I would like to encourage you all that Nal does work! I am now 4 months into taking a quarter of the tablet and have come to the point where alcohol is not playing a role any more in my life. I barely remember times when I opened a bottle at home and drank it all. I do drink socially, however, now, I do sometimes leave drinks in the glass and I also drink very slowly. I do not feel like being cured - am too afraid to declare that. I do not know why, but I just feel that this whole "cure" idea is not the right way to describe success with Nal. For me, success is that I have no craving, that I do not buy alcohol to drink it alone at home and that I do not sneak at the parties to drink more than usual. The most important thing is the change in the mind when it comes to alcohol. The latter is now perceived as a nice addition to other enjoyable things (like dinner with friends) and not a goal in itself. Success, however, does not come by itself. Habit changing techniques are very important. For me, the most important habit change is not buying wine to consume it at home alone. I am working on limiting drinking at social events to one or two drinks - but that might require some more time.

Nal on!

That's so great for you TamTam!!! I don't like the word "cured" either, but whatever it is that you are right now, I want that for myself!
