So I am only about 3 weeks into TSM. Before TSM I drank everyday, 30+units a week. I have noticed some reduction in my drinking on each sitting but I am still drinking every day and can't seem to get an AF day. Now drinking about 25 drinks weekly. For similar daily drinkers, when did you feel you could get AF days.

Hi Abby - it took me a long time to get AF days - and even then I had to use Antabuse to get them and some folk here did not think that was a good idea but it was the only way that I could get them. You are VERY early days yet so I really would not worry about it right now ..... really ! Just hang in there, take the Nal at least an hour before drinking and do not try and worry yet - really !

And welcome !!!!

Hugs, Maggie x

Thanks for the encouragement! Also when I say drinks I mean U.S. drinks. What is the difference between drinks vs units? Still trying to figure out the counting system

US units are different to UK units - I cannot lay my hand to where that can be found right now - if you Google it I am sure that you will find it.

I've been doing TSM now for almost 2 months, and have very few AF days. I think it takes a while to get those for some of us.

I think it's part of the unlearning the habit. I even think having a hangover is part of the unlearning. Yesterday I had a hangover, so I thinking my brain is taking in "PAIN" while I'm not taking the nal, so it's learning something, lol. Or it's just my mind trying the best it can to hold on, and just keep trying.

Don't give up. Be kind to yourself.

Thanks! Overall I can tell that is it easier to stop and not want to go into total binge so that is major improvement even if still drinking 3 or 4 drinks a day.

Hi abby,

And welcome to the wonderful life of TSM. I have been on nal. since May 8, and I finally had a planned af day 3 in a row. The only other time I could do one is when I had a nal. over, and once you have one of those you will understand why I was af. Do not rush it. If you try and feel like you are white knuckling it you are not ready. Continue with what you are doing and try at a later date.

Since you are only 3 weeks in you may be in the honeymoon period, which mean TSM will work for you, but it can also mean that you intake can increase so be aware of it and do not worry it just happens.

for UK units https://www.drinkaware.co.uk/understand ... calculator

for US http://www.moderatedrinking.com/self_mo ... ing_track2

there are also apps you can put on your smart phone you can find

keep posting for we love to read others progress and we really care

Jaba

Abby, I am 13 weeks in and it has only been in the last two weeks that I have any alcohol free days. I had to force it. I think you are too fresh into it to have to force A/F. Don't try to push it; it is a process. Welcome.

Yes I think I definitely felt the honeymoon period the first 2 weeks and now I feel like I have been drinking more this week. I think I can 'tell' it is blocking some of the endorphin/feel good feeling so I think my intake has increased a bit because I am trying to chase the high. So its like I am adjusting to what it is like to drink while on Nal and accepting how it is. But happy that I am still able to stop easier. So I was feeling a tad discouraged but I will definitely stick with it. Good to know that it can take awhile before doing a AF day and that I'm probably just not ready yet.

At this point all you should be doing is ensuring you take 50mg 1 hour before drinking. That is all.
