I haven't checked in on this board for a while, been giving the nal a chance to work. I am still on benzos but taking less and the effects of the Sinclair method have been amazing! For the first time in nearly 2 years I haven't even had a drink at home by myself or obsessed over getting drunk daily. I've lost weight and was even AF for 2 weeks without trying (although I was on antibiotics and was sick) but in the past I would always drink, sick or not. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been a complete angel during my treatment. I did get drunk and binge drink a few times but the key is not giving up and sticking with it. With the antibiotics I admit I did drink a few times without taking the nal because of stomach issues but I was ok for a bit, it was only the other night at dinner on my second glass of wine I started to feel "the monster" poke his head out and say "more, where can we drink more, lets keep going". I am back to taking 50mg every time before I drink! To those struggling PLEASE hang in there, you have nothing to loose and it's worth trying. I didn't think it was going to work for me and I also still get not the greatest side effects like nausea, dizziness, and insomnia, but the side effects from binge drinking 3-4 times a week are way worse! I'll take the nal side effects over depression, weight gain, and horrific hangovers from too much booze anytime!

I am glad you are doing so well BlackDiamond. How long have you been doing TSM and at what point did you find it working for you?
Thank You for posting and checking back in. :D

Yay! That's so cool to hear.

You know, I think a lot of us play with the Golden Rule at some point, even knowing how vital it is. Seems like the addiction will try just about anything to survive.

Melissa- you are so right. Once we start to loose that "high" its almost as if we start to think about stopping the nal to get it back. But if you think and rationalize it so not worth it. I am now starting to enjoy drinking and living like a "normal person", whatever that is.

Cheeto- I started TSM in September and I would say it really started working for me at the middle of November. I knew it was working because I stopped wanting to drink at home and even though I still will let go and have 3 or 4 (sometimes on a wild night 5 or 6) drinks when I go out I have way more control over what I'm doing.

I wouldn't consider myself fully "cured" yet because there have been a few times I've been drinking and my brain says "keep going, that high will kick in sooner or later, right"? But now I just get woozy and tired when I'm drunk, no more euphoria with the desire to chase the high all night long. Believe me I used to drink and chase that Euphoria until the sun was rising and I passed out on the couch on a Tuesday night. Never want to go back to that life! Ever! Keep moving forward everyone, never look back. Nothing is mistake if you learn from it. We are all only human.
