Howdy y'all,

Time to start the thread!

From my thread on the forum for new folks, interested followers will see that there are not too many who drink as much as I do. 'Tis the season to put that in the rear view mirror thanks to having learned of this treatment.

On hand, I have three days of abstinence (unaided and not because I couldn't run down the street and take care of that had I wanted to more than I want to quit or at least get "normal," whatever that turns out to be), about ten days' worth of the pill on hand, some antabuse left over from an abysmally failed earlier effort should I need it in a pinch, and a recently placed order of naltrexone I hope will be here in time to restock.

Presently, I am at the top of a 40 oz. malt liquor. I may do a second one this evening, but it is for sure I will do this one.

More often, gin - absurd, dangerous, shocking volumes of it, straight up over ice - is what I am killing myself with. When behaving, I slip down to the ML. The plan is to eschew the gin as much as I can without making myself crazier with it than I already have. My intake has in the last few months gotten to be so much that it is sometimes the case I wake up and just want to start drinking again, being still impaired more than I am "merely" hungover. That won't do. Heck, what has been going on for over a decade prior won't do. Not with a realistic light at the end of a very, very dark, drunken tunnel of wasted and precious LIFE.

So anyway, here goes.

Howsabout a toast from everyone?

OK, orange juice straight up is fine and still counts :P

Thanks in advance for your vibes and whatever pearls you think will go nice with pickled swine.

See it all happen in HD

Thank you for your earlier posts and what I am sure I can count on as your continued wisdom and support.

Also, and in terms of logging on to post again, I answered a top post in another thread and thought I should solve a little mystery concerning my own awful abuse.

I guess that means my baseline most days is around 20 units.

Holy crap.

Unsurprised really, it is still hard to look at in the context of everyone else's sigfiles.

Onward -

First time on 50mg.

I'd already gotten my "moderate allotment" of 2 - 40oz. malt liquors.

It's been two hours (since the first one waiting). I just capped the first bottle at half done. It was actually habit/conditioning that got me beyond the first quarter I think.

Just.Not.Interested.

Promising I daresay, if somewhat emotionally flat in thinking on the matter.

Anyway, I am off to have some good food and continue on my blog binge instead of an alcohol one. With work to do pretty early in the morning and, finally, a real desire to sleep a whole night, I expect I'll be much less flat about this experience come morning.

Meanwhile, the household duties are in a better state of affairs than in months.

An excellent start. With a dramatic difference like that, you may be a quick responder. The biggest issue there is to avoid the temptation to ditch the pill in order to resume normal drunkenness. Just remember what's at stake.
