I did not take Nal one day and thought I will have one small drink and I got super drunk with much less than usual. Anybody experience that. It was terrible. I was almost not responsive.
Please let me know if anybody had this experience. Thanks

I'm not sure about this. My tolerance definitely has seemed to shrink, with Nal. I have not had any episodes without Nal that I can speak of.

You really don't want to do that--drink without the Nal. It can take you back to the beginning. Although some people on this site who've been "cured" seem to be able to drink moderately without Nal, I've seen many who then relapse. I think it's a life-long commitment, always take the Nal an hour before you drink. That also helps cognitively, as you have to be conscious and in control enough to plan and wait. If you then don't drink, fine.

Also, if you find yourself compelled to drink, take the Nal as soon as possible. There are some case studies in the book involving that issue.

As I recall from the book, if you drink without the Nal it can be a really intense rush and put you back to the start or worse. I haven't experienced that so far, although I have pushed the hour to 30 minutes a few times...

erk,

Really? Why did you do that? TSM's golden rule is Nal + 1hr before drinking and if you can't follow that rule than guess what - your not doing TSM. So stop experimenting and just do the program.

And I second what Mer says above.

Yes, I also believe, that taking the Nal 1 hour before should be first priority. But, I have taken it less than an hour before at a social event. Poor planning by me usually. I have also screwed up and had 1 or 2, before the Nal. Again poor planning by me. However,, that should be an extreme last resort. Follow the Golden Rule. If you screw up planning/timing still take the Nal as soon as possible to at least start blocking the rush, even if a bit has made its way up to the brain already.

I've heard it said that using Nal can increase your endorphin receptors, which could explain how quickly you got drunk. I've never drunk without Nal and the book says readdiction is much quicker than deaddiction so just not worth it.
