I don't know if this is the right place to address this but I need to start somewhere.
I have been on Naltrexone for a little over a month. I have mixed experiences.
I have read Dr. Eskapa's book and take the med one hour before my usual craving time. This worked for me in the beginning and I stopped after two drinks when I would have gone on to eight. Recently, I have not been as affected by the drug and have been starting to drink more. I am wondering if others have had this happen and if a solution would to be to take a higher dose.
Thanks
Birdie

Sounds like a classic honeymoon period Birdie. Lots experience it and most people say its a sign that TSM might be right for you. My units dropped off straight away also but thankfully stayed that way for the most apart so I might not be the best person to explain things.

50mg should have you covered.

That's the classic honeymoon. Don't be discouraged! Here's why:

1. The conventional wisdom on the board is if someone has a honeymoon period, they are most likely going to achieve success if they continue on.

2. TSM is a roller coaster - in my experience and many others on this board, the units go up and down, but trending down with some spikes. It's the up part that makes it difficult. We are in an instant gratification society and TSM isn't instant.

My units actually exceeded my initial drinking quantities at one point. But dropped afterwards. When I was nearly to where I am today,I had three spikes back up. And then down. I am at 3-6 units per month, which was about half of one night for me pre TSM.

My view of what's important is the constant taking of the naltrexone one hour before drinking and logging. If those are done, then the rest is easier. I think I would have completed earlier.

TSM takes however long it takes, just keep the golden rule in mind and hang in there!
