Hi Everyone,
Been using nal for the past month and a half. Initially I immediately had approx 7 days of normal alcohol use followed by an almost immediate increase in cravings. I have been limiting myself where possible, but the past 5 weeks has been pretty much my normal drinking habits for the past several years. However, the past two nights I just haven't had a craving for alcohol. Last night went and purchased my weekend stash and pretty much most of it is still unused. I guess it's a nice feeling sitting here with a beer in my hand and being able to focus on other things besides 'how fast can i drink this', a mindset that I'm a too familiar with. I've restricted myself to beer only because with whiskey(drink of choice) and wine I end up black-out drunk. At least with beer my body tends to limit what I can put in at any one time. Anyways, going off on a tangent there. I hope this is the eventual outcome I will experience if TSM ends up working for me (i would love for this to be the start of being cured, but not crossing my fingers).

Hi Marmot,

I'm on week 5 so we're close.

I'm slightly down from my normal drinking habits like you. I am trying to be patient and give this a chance to do its magic.

Hang in there!

Thanks all for your support. I'm definitely keeping my hopes up and I've already seen not so much a decrease but a steadier and more controlled drinking. Really looking forward to being on that cured list.

Welcome marmot-the great thing about NAL is that you don't even have to believe it will work for it to work! Just make a commitment to not drink without it, EVER, and let it do it's job over time. It's not hard to swallow a little pill, and unless you have nasty side effects, there isn't really much of a downside. I look forward to following your progress.

So, back to normal for now. I think I was a bit mis-understood. Definitely believe that NAL will work. Just a bit ancy for it to. At any rate, any smokers out there, I quit smoking and have been using this e-cigg thing. Very effective and actually brings the good parts of smoking to the table. Wow, making a total life change here. Seriously though, hope the nal stuff works.

Hi Marmot, welcome and good luck with your TSM journey. Nick has once mentioned that doubt should be included in the TSM formula because it is so universal among us (ie Nal + patience + doubt= cure (return to control)). The science behind TSM is pretty solid and the beauty of it is it happens on a mostly unconscious level. Someelse on this board said its funny how TSM tricks alcoholic thinking when that type of thinking normally tricks us (or words to that effect). Hang in there, its a long and sometimes bumpy ride but it does work. Good luck

Feeling pretty good these days. Need to update my signature. I went for a dive for a while there though and although I kept taking nal I was feeling like it wasn't going to work. Just enjoyed 2 days AF, absolutely no desire to drink and no bad feelings about it. Just no drinking, simple as that. I did also manage to quit smoking finally(and stuck with it) and started a new workout program that is pretty much kicking my ass. Don't know if that has anything to do w/ not wanting to drink but regardless it's improving my mental state and also giving me another long-term goal to work towards. It feels like the longer I use nal, even if it doesn't stop me from drinking like I used to, I can still stay focused on those long term goals and not dwell on how I necessarily feel today or tomorrow. Anyways, just a few thoughts.
