Well done on your progress. I think the void that you're finding in your life is a good thing. It gives you no option but to try an find something interesting and productive to do with your spare time.

Back at work. A little busy to drink, but did have a tablet and wine on 11/13, and a tablet and a beer on the 15th. No cravings at all, and no desire to keep drinking. A bigger test will be the next night before a day off. I'm not expecting anything different than the very light drinking I'm growing accustomed to.

Also flew 2 business class legs back to work. First time in my life I "didn't feel like" anything at all to drink. That includes both VIP lounges prior to each flight with open bar. Almost unbelievable, but as I said before, I'm getting used to that feeling. Quite liberating I must say.

Pacificman, you're doing so well. It sounds like this is happening so fast for you. You only started TSM a few weeks before me and I am no where near the progress that you have made. I'm really happy for you. :D

Pacman, I'm impressed you made it through the VIP lounges without a drink. That is always a big trigger. Great progress.

That is unbelievable--I'd say you're made of sterner stuff than me but it sounds like you're just going with your cravings and lack thereof. So far I've only been able to turn down a free drink because of feeling hungover from drinking too much the night before but it seems like you've really lost that loving feeling for AL :D

Well, I've had my big test. First party night out with the mates in a big city. I had Sunday off and i was looking forward to the night. An interesting fact was that as I was excited and looking forward to it, I did not have that "pre-going out buzz" that I used to. Although I did pop 3 beers beers pretty quick after 5pm, I did not take one in the car as i ALWAYS used to. I also walked around and enjoyed exploring a new city for 2 hours without the nagging desire to get somewhere and continue drinking immediately. The other guys kept wanting to stop at a market to buy beers to walk with. All of this is huge progress.

I did sip 2 shots of jager, (my first shots in months) and enjoyed them. Had about 10 beers, and left my friends at the bars at 11130 to hit the casino. Another trigger. Played for 2 hours and had 1/2 a free beer. Amazing. Also interesting how much it seemed that my friends were drinking. These are people who NEVER and I mean NEVER outdrank me before.

Im quite busy for the next 2 weeks, so Ill be drinking very little. Thanks everyone for your great comments and help.

Enjoying life again in cold North West Asia,
Pacman

11/24 Did another night out having the next day off. Wound up drinking about 10 beers in 7 hours. Was the first one to leave and go home. Everything is under control and I'm feeling great. Even took a pill tonight so i could have a beer or 2. No desire yet though. It is weird to be deciding whether to have a beer, juice, or soda. They all have an equal chance.

That sounds brilliant. To me thats pretty much cured, afterall thats all we ever wanted to be able to take it or leave it.

Yeah, I'm getting close to saying that. It just seems so fast being only 3 months.

I went out again last night and had a tough time keeping pace with my friends. I would really just rather go home. After years of partying, it seems so over rated and boring now. I again had about 10-12 drinks in 7 hours, but absolutely zero desire to keep going as i have always done in the past. Before TSM I would have drank at least 30 units. I felt guilty as the guys were really expecting my "old self" to get them going, but in reality that person is gone, and Im glad. Looking at last night, I will probably choose my nights a little more wisely, and really wind up going out a lot less. I have better things to do.
