Hello everyone.

I posted a few times in the Newbies forum before I'd gotten my Nal, but now I've had it for a week I'm joining this forum. I'm a daily red wine drinker. I don't drink hard liquor or beer, just wine. Pretty much every evening, all evening. I'm tired of wasting my evenings drinking and sleeping and I'm tired of telling my (non-drinking) husband something and having him remind me that I'd already told him that last night!

I have just finished Week 1. I'm tracking my drinks with an iPod/iPhone app called iDrinkulator, and it seems to be working fine, although I've been at home every evening and I might be a little self-conscious about taking out my iPod in a restaurant or a bar. One think the program pointed out to me was that my 5 oz. glasses of wine are actually more like 6 because the wine I normally drink is 14.5% alcohol. This is a good point and I've changed my starting point from the 42 I was estimating to 50.

I've had no side effects at all. I notice the first drink hits me harder, I feel quite drunk before I've even finished it. But I carry on. However my consumption is down, so I'm happy for now.

Good deal if you already see a difference. Don't fret too much about the unit measurements either. as long as it's consistent you'll be able to track your progress. keep us posted. :D

Hey Char, great to have you along for the TSM journey.
Like Joe12 said - don't worry too much about how your measuring your units as long as you measure them the same way each day. Like you I am a wine drinker. When I started I was drinking 6 - 9 bottles of wine per week. The results didn't happen straight away, but they do happen.

All the best.
Kiwi

PS: You are lucky not to have any side effects. Many of us had horrible side effects at the start.

Hello--

Units are not down much this week, and only down at all because I didn't get home until nearly 9 last night after a wineless day and consumed less than usual.

But--do I ever feel better! Two evenings with no after-dinner "naps" at all and the sleeps are lighter. So I sleep much better when I actually go to bed, still waking up too early but often able to get back to sleep. This is a wonderful change.

Char

Char,

Glad you are feeling better and sleeping better too! Man, sleep makes such a difference. It looks like your units are down from pre-TSM. That is what really matters. It's still early. I'm glad to hear your progress. Take care, BTDT

char,
i saw your posting on another thread and looked for your progress thread. keep posting your progress even if it seems a little "same same". it can take time. pay attention to the small changes, feelings, cravings attitudes etc., and allow time for the units to change. :)

I didn't know I was being watched! My progress is indeed same, same. I meant to post a short report every Monday and haven't been keeping up. I'll do one tomorrow, boring as it will be.

It's not possible to bore us!!! Everyone has a story, and each story is interesting. I know I love to read about others and how they are doing. Most of the posters that were here a year ago when I started have moved on and I miss reading their progress. But how great to know they are not here because they have reached whatever level of 'cured' they wanted. Me too. But it does me good to poke around here every once in a while.

Post often, and you'll find friendly people who want to encourage you. Glad to see you here.

Okay, I've updated my signature. What else is going on--I discovered yesterday I've lost 5 pounds since starting TSM! So I am extinguishing food! I do have a mild feeling of nausea nearly all the time and I have noticed my appetite has decreased. Not, however, for alcohol, which remains at 6 units every evening. I don't get physical hangovers but I feel depressed in the mornings. Could be just Seasonal Affective Disorder?

I'm trying the tactic of taking the Nal 2 hours ahead of time instead of one and it does seem to slow things down. I take my first drinks more slowly and don't fall asleep after #4, only to wake up an hour or two later and have one or two more drinks. I've only been doing this for two nights so I don't know if it will last.

I'd sure like to have that feeling of not wanting any more that others report. I stop because I'm too sleepy to continue basically. Or I realize my husband is turning off the TV and the lights and I'd better go to bed!
