I was excited for this weekend to come as it's my second weekend on Nal (Fri and Sat binge drinker). I didn't feel any different at all. I drank a little more than I would normally even. I know one of you said it 'works in the background' but are there many of you out there who noticed absolutely nothing the first few weeks. I'm concerned that because I don't drink Sunday to Thursday when I do drink on Friday that I'm just starting at the beginning again. I don't think my husband can put up with it much longer. He's getting fed up with it all and I don't blame him.

I found myself drinking more during my first few weeks of TSM. Also, I got more drunk on what I drank--couldn't stand or walk, would lie in bed wanting to pass out because I was so dizzy and out of control. The first few weeks are hard!

But I made sure to take my naltrexone EVERY time I drank. I started at the end of July. Read my progress and the experiences of others in this forum. It needs a few months to work.

Hi Brummy - my wife is still getting drunk, too, but after reading the book it has helped me to put up with it because I know she is actually doing something about it. Has your husband read the book? Like I said, she is still doing it, but the evidence is so strong that if she (and you) continue to take nal before drinking it will decrease, it makes it easier for me to accept, at least for the next few months. Don't feel bad and don't give up!

My boyfriend was also getting very fed up with my drinking--it really helped when I finally shared the Eskapa book with him! I know it can be tough, please give it some time to work. Your experience may be different because from what I could tell you only drink on the weekends--perhaps daily drinkers have a more dramatic experience in the early weeks. This site is a great source of support, and I encourage you to spend some time reading through the different threads.
